Here we go!! Week 9!!! There are currently two teams undefeated in the Wyoming Valley Conference in Dallas and Wyoming Area. Dallas has a big matchup with Wilkes-Barre Area at home. Meanwhile, Wyoming Area has a home matchup with perennial state power Southern Columbia. Several teams are looking to play past Week 10 and play an extra week. With all that being said, let’s get into the Week 9 games!!!

Tunkhannock at Towanda

Fri 7 PM

Tunkhannock is coming off a loss to Pittston Area. Towanda is coming off a victory over Hughesville. Black Knights quarterback Rylie Vanderpool has 600 yards passing with three touchdowns. He also has 980 yards on the ground and six touchdowns. Tigers running back Logan Ross is rushing for 989 yards and 10 touchdowns. Tunkhannock currently has the 8th and final playoff spot in the District 2 4A Playoffs. A win can help propel them into the playoffs in their final two games. Can the Tigers hold off Honesdale to get the final playoff spot?

Lake-Lehman at Hanover Area

Fri 7 PM

Lake-Lehman is coming off a loss to Wyoming Area. Hanover Area lost to Crestwood. Black Knights quarterback Hayden Evans threw for 594 yards and seven touchdowns. Hawkeyes running back Jayden Skipalis is rushing for 577 yards and 10 touchdowns on the 2023 campaign. Both teams are still alive for the District 2 3A Playoffs. Lake-Lehman is currently on the outside looking in at 5th behind Carbondale and Hanover Area is currently 3rd in the 3A Standings. Who will come out on top in this District 2 3A matchup?

Prediction: Lake-Lehman 35 Hanover Area 14

Holy Redeemer at Pittston Area

Fri 7 PM

Holy Redeemer lost to Nanticoke last week. Pittston Area defeated Tunkhannock last week. Royals quarterback Thomas Dugan threw for 646 yards and four touchdowns. He also has three rushing touchdowns. Patriots quarterback Drew DeLucca threw for 1,165 yards and 11 touchdowns. Pittston Area is currently in the fourth and final playoff spot in the District 2 5A Playoffs. Can the Patriots get the win or will the Royals pull off their first win of the 2023 season?

Prediction: Pittston Area 35 Holy Redeemer 7

Scranton Prep at Valley West

Fri 7 PM

Scranton Prep defeated North Pocono a week ago. Valley West is coming off a loss at Hazleton Area. Cavaliers quarterback Louis Paris is throwing for 750 yards and 11 touchdowns for the 2023 season. Spartans wideout Maki Wells had three catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns last week. Scranton Prep is currently on top of the District 2 3A Standings. Valley West is looking to snap their seven game losing streak. Can Valley West pull off the biggest upset in District 2 this season?

Prediction: Scranton Prep 35 Valley West 7

Shamokin at Nanticoke

Fri 7 PM

Shamokin is coming off a victory over Central Columbia. Nanticoke is coming off a victory over Holy Redeemer. Indians wideout Chase Pensyl had four catches for 118 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win. Trojans running back Zack Fox is rushing for 1,273 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season. Nanticoke is currently 5th in the District 2 4A Playoffs. They could possibly host a playoff game and winning out can potentially give them a home game.

Prediction: Nanticoke 28 Shamokin 27

Berwick at Crestwood

Fri 7 PM

Berwick lost to Danville last week. Crestwood defeated Hanover Area in last week’s matchup. Bulldogs running back Tyler Winter has 668 rushing yards with eight touchdowns. Comets wideout Matthew Sklarlosky has 12 catches for 273 yards and six touchdowns on the season. Crestwood is currently 4th in the District 2 4A Standings. Meanwhile, Berwick is in seventh in the Standings. Both teams are looking for position as we head towards the District playoffs.

Prediction: Crestwood 28 Berwick 14

Wilkes-Barre Area at Dallas

Fri 7 PM

Wilkes-Barre Area got the road victory over Williamsport. Dallas remained unbeaten with a road victory at Wallenpaupack. Wolf Pack quarterback Jake Howe threw for 1,232 yards and 16 touchdowns. Mountaineers defensive back Gavin Lewis has four interceptions on the 2023 season. Dallas is currently second in the District 2 4A Playoff race. Wilkes-Barre Area is sixth in the District 2/4/11 6A Subregional Playoffs. Dallas is looking to go undefeated. However, Wilkes-Barre Area has been on a roll, winning 5 of their last six games. Can they pull off the upset and hand Dallas their first loss of the 2023 season?

Prediction: Dallas 28 Wilkes-Barre Area 21

Hazleton Area at Williamsport

Fri 7 PM

Hazleton Area snapped their six game losing streak with a victory at home over Valley West. Williamsport lost to Wilkes-Barre Area last week. Cougars running back Ashton Karlick had three touchdowns last week. Millionaires quarterback Caleb Williamson threw for 1,523 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season. Williamsport is currently 9th and out of the 6A Subregional playoffs. Can the Millionaires get the win and potentially get into the Subregional playoffs?

Prediction: Williamsport 35 Hazleton Area 21

Southern Columbia at Wyoming Area

Fri 7 PM

Southern Columbia is coming off a loss to Mount Carmel. Wyoming Area stayed undefeated with a win over Lake-Lehman. Tigers quarterback Blake Wise is throwing for 717 yards and eight touchdowns. Warriors running back Aaron Crossley has 1,196 yards and 21 touchdowns for the 2023 season. Southern Columbia is coming off their first loss of the season but Wyoming Area is looking to stay undefeated by handing the Tigers their second straight loss.
