Kotsko’s View of the WVC: The Roller Coaster

This season has been a roller coaster for several teams. Even during the course of a game, you never know what direction you are going to end up. You anticipate the start of the season and then suddenly, you find yourself either 0-3 or 1-2 looking for answers. Several teams are still looking for their first win and some are looking to break even in the win column. With all that being said, let’s get into the games for Week number four!!!

Valley West at Crestwood

Fri 7 PM

Valley West is coming off a loss to Pittston Area. Crestwood is 0-3 after losing a tough one at Wyoming Area. Spartans quarterback Lucas Zdancewicz is throwing for 205 yards and has two rushing touchdowns on the season. Comets quarterback Jaden Shedlock leads all of District 2 in rushing yards at 586. Crestwood is looking for their first win of the season. All three of their losses have been by a touchdown. The Spartans are on a two game skid and looking to get to 2-2. Which team will break their losing streak?

Prediction: Crestwood 35 Valley West 7

Tunkhannock at Carbondale

Fri 7 PM

Tunkhannock is 2-1 coming off wins over Hanover Area and Holy Redeemer. Tigers running back Logan Ross has 318 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Carbondale running back Anthony Prince ran for 94 yards and two touchdowns in their victory against the Hawkeyes. Tunkhannock is off to a 2-1 start with a new coaching staff. Can the Chargers win their second straight game or will the Tigers go to 3-1

Prediction: Tunkhannock 28 Carbondale 7

Wilkes-Barre Area at Hazleton Area

Fri 7 PM

Wilkes-Barre Area is coming off their first win over Wallenpaupack. Hazleton Area is coming off a loss to North Pocono. Wolf Pack running back Howie Shiner has 207 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Cougars quarterback Austin Wilson has thrown for 335 yards and five touchdowns on the year. He also has 215 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Both teams enter at 1-2 and looking to break even. Who will come out on top in this 6A matchup?

Prediction: Wilkes-Barre Area 28 Hazleton Area 21

Berwick at Williamsport

Fri 7 PM

Berwick is 0-3 after a loss to Abington Heights. Williamsport lost at Dallas last week. Bulldogs running back Tyler Winter is running for 266 yards and three touchdowns in the first three games of the season. Millonaires quarterback Caleb Williamson has thrown for 687 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Berwick is looking for their first win of the season. Williamsport is looking to break even at 2-2. Can the Bulldogs leave Billtown with a win or will the Millionaires get the victory at home?

Prediction: Williamsport 28 Berwick 21

West Scranton at Dallas

Fri 7 PM

West Scranton is coming off a loss to Scranton. Dallas is 3-0 after defeating Williamsport last week. Invaders receiver Taron Knight Guerrier has five catches for 312 yards and four touchdowns. Mountaineers wideout Zach Paczewski has 14 catches for 300 yards and five touchdowns in their first three games of the season. Both teams are going two different directions. Dallas enters undefeated and looking to get to 4-0. Meanwhile, West Scranton is looking for their first win of the 2023 season.

Prediction: Dallas 35 West Scranton 7

Hanover Area at Pittston Area

Fri 7 PM

Hanover Area is coming off a loss to Carbondale. Pittston Area is coming off their first win last week. Patriots wideout Lucas Lopresto has 11 catches for 217 yards and a touchdown. Hawkeyes running back Jayden Skipalis has 247 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Since opening night, both teams have lost two straight games and both are looking to snap their respective losing streak. Which one will go to 2-2 on the season and snap their losing streak?

Prediction: Pittston Area 28 Hanover Area 14

Nanticoke at Wyoming Area

Fri 7 PM

Nanticoke is coming off a loss to Lackawanna Trail. Wyoming Area is 3-0 after a victory at home against Crestwood. Trojans running back Zack Fox has 453 yards and five touchdowns in three games this week. Warriors running back Aaron Crossley is running for 497 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. This game will most likely determine the Division 2 crown. Who will come out on top in this Division 2 matchup?

Prediction: Wyoming Area 35 Nanticoke 14

Lake-Lehman at Holy Redeemer

Sat 1 PM

Lake-Lehman is coming off a loss to Scranton Prep. Holy Redeemer lost to Tunkhannock last week. Black Knights running back Gavin Shoemaker ran for 54 yards last week. Royals wideout Mike Zbierski has 10 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown on the season. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season. Who will win this Saturday afternoon matchup?

Prediction: Lake-Lehman 28 Holy Redeemer 7
