Head Coach: Colin Leach (1st Season)
League: Suburban One-American Conference(6A)
Last Season: (1-8) overall (0-5) Conference

Panther’s Notables: Last season the Panthers went 1-8 and 0-5 in the conference. It’s a new year and a new look for them. Newly hired Head Coach Colin Leach and his staff have spent the last 6-7 months getting to know their new athletes and creating a winning attitude and environment. The Panthers return 5 players on Offense and 6 players on defense. Coach Leach had this to say when he was on offense, “We are going to use a variety of formations to get our athletes in a position to have the ball in their hands early. We plan to be fast-paced and utilize various personnel packages.” I caught up with SR RB/LB Captain Gary Miluzzo and asked him what he thought he and his team had to do to win Friday night against Council Rock South and he replied, “It honestly just comes down to our front line. our offensive linemen have to block because CR South has a very strong defensive line. If they can take their correct steps and they follow through with their blocking assignments, I think our offense will be powerful against CR South.” I also asked what the defense had to do, and he responded, “CR South has a really good offense. They have a really great running back, good fullback, and good tight ends. Overall, really good offense but I think if our defensive line can beat them because they’re not that fast or strong and we were pretty quick on defense.” Coach Leach added, “We are going to be an aggressive style of defense. We want to control the line of scrimmage and tailor it to our strengths up front, we will have several looks we will be going into during the season.” There seems to be a lot of confidence moving forward as Coach Leach heads into his first game as a Head Coach.

League: Suburban One-Continental Conference(6A)
Last Season: (4-6) overall (3-4) Conference
Last Week: N/A
Hawk’s Notables: In Head Coach CJ Szydlik’s first season at Council Rock South his team went 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference. There were some wins left on the board last season and this veteran-laden team is chomping at the bits to get on the field and improve upon last year’s record. I quickly caught up with Coach Szydlik and he said, “With returning 8 starters on Offense and a year under our belts, we expect much consistency.” “Defensively we are returning 7 Defensive starters which will be big for us early as we try to replace 2 All SOL linebackers in Omlor and Fortunato.” The coach had me meet up with SR DB Jake Hemple, who had 47 tackles last year and 4 interceptions. Coach said, “Jake is a great kid and a crazy athlete who was All-SOL Honorable Mention a year ago.” We spoke briefly and I asked him about what he thought his squad needed to do to be victorious on Friday and this is what he said, “Well on defense we are going to have to tackle, and not get too overwhelmed by their hurry-up offense and stay focused really. We can’t let it get to us mentally. Offensively, we need to read our blocks and just run the ball like we know how.” The Hawks will need to be consistent and equally fast to come out on top Friday night under the lights in front of their home crowd.
