On Friday night, the Montour Spartans defeated the West Allegheny Indians by a score of 49-17.

The two teams combined for 66 points, but there were only 14 points to be scored in the first quarter.

Montour quarterback Jake Wolfe opened up the scoring on a deep pass to wide receiver AJ Alston, which was followed up by a West Allegheny score by Brock Cornell.

In the second quarter, it looked like West Allegheny had a chance to take control of things, as kicker Andy Cosnek gave them a 10-7 lead.

This momentum was quickly shut down by Montour, as they would march down the field on back to back drives and Wolfe would find wide receiver Daniel Batch for back to back touchdowns.

Batch’s two touchdowns put Montour up 21-10 at halftime.

Montour opened up the second half by scoring two more touchdowns. Wolfe scored on a quarterback keeper and also threw a touchdown to Keino Fitzpatrick II, which was on the first play of the drive.

Fitzpatrick scored again in the fourth quarter as the second half was all Montour.

Spartans running back Caden Halajcio added on one more touchdown late in the game to make the final score Montour 49, West Allegheny 17.

With the win Montour improves to a record of 9-1, as West Allegheny falls to 6-4.
