Konkrete Kids methodically stifled the Mountaineers in all aspects of the game Saturday afternoon.

NORTHAMPTON- Mother nature wreaked some havoc this weekend of high school football games in the Lehigh Valley. One being the Stroudsburg at Northampton game originally scheduled Friday was postponed till Saturday afternoon. On a hot muggy afternoon, the Konkrete Kids overcame a slow start to easily defeat the Mountaineers 31-0 at Al Erdosy Stadium. The game was called with 2:52 left in the game with lightning in the are

Neither team could put any points on the board in the opening quarter as Stroudsburg was forced to punt on their opening possession, then the K-Kids fumbled the ball to Stroudsburg near midfield the first time they had the ball.

Northampton finally got on track offensively with a 16 play 66 yard drive culminating with an AJ Slivka 2yard score at the 10:50 mark of the second quarter Aaron Gutkowski added the PAT for a 7-0 lead. On the drive rhe K-Kids decided to go for a fouth and three from near midfield on a Caden Henritzy run for 12 yards to extend the drive.

Stroudsburg’s offense was anemic much of the contest thanks to a swarming Northampton defense who allowed the Mountaineers just two first down all game and one coming off a penalty. The Mounties managed just 26 yards on the ground on 24 rushes. The passing game wasn’t much better as they only gained 21 yards on five completions and only crossed midfield once to the Northampton 39.

“Our defense was outstanding today.” Northampton coach John Toman said. “We were more physical and of course we were bigger upfront and that was the difference,”

To add insult to injury, the Konkrete Kids marched another 82 yards for there second score on eleven plays with Henritzy scooting in for two yards out with 2:46 left till half for a 14-0 lead.

Stroudsburg next drive ended in disaster a minute and a half later when cornerback Tristan Pinnock got a gift pick 6 from 35 yards when Ben Pilcher scrambled to his right and tried throwing a pass to the middle of the field, where Pinnock was waiting and he coasted in for a touchdown and a 21-0 lead with 1:10 left in the half.

Aaron Gutkowski then connected on a 32 yard field goal to extend the lead to 24-0 with about two minutes left in the third quarter, then Slivka rushed for a 30 yard gain then he finished off the scoring on a ten yard run with 7:50 left in the game.

“We were able to keep our defense fresh by rotating guys in and out,” Toman stated, Jacob Biery, Colby Reph and Gavin Grell, unlike what we did when we played Allentown Central Catholic and those guys played the entire game.”

Northampton (2-1) will be back at home on Friday when they face winless Louis Dieruff. The Huskies lost to Pocono Mountain West Friday 49-20. Stroudsburg (1-2) will try to get back to .500 as they go to Cottingham Stadium to face the Rovers of Easton, who were shutout by Whitehall 27-0 Friday,
