Quintano sparks Crusader Offense in Convincing Win Over Southern Lehigh.

BETHLEHEM TWP- Notre Dame Green Pond quarterback Colin Quintano, showed why Friday night that he is one of the elite signal callers in the area. Throwing for over 300 yards once again and adding five scoring passes in a rout of visiting Southern Lehigh Friday to the tune of 53-14 in a Schuylkill/Colonial League contest.
After both teams exchanged punts on their opening drives, Quintano got his team the first points of the night an perfectly placed pass to wide receiver Jayden Becker fot a 39 yard touchdown pass to take a quick 7-0 lead at the 8:17. Southern Lehigh did manage to tie the score on their next possession on a 20 yard touchdown with 1:06 left in the first quarter.

The Crusaders then exploded for 27 unanswered points in the second quarter to exted to a 34-7 at intermission. Quintano connected with Gavin Gibbs for an 8 yard score with 11:22 remaining in the half to make the score 13-7.

Running back Alex Cruz Jr then made it a 19-7 score with a 25 yard score after the Crusader defense recovered a Spartan fumble at their own 24 yard line by Ethan O’Neil.

Crusader speedster Trevor Shay got free on a nifty 80 yard touchdown pass on their next possession pushing the lead to 25-7. The defense then got involved in the scoring barrage as linebacker Antonio Caiazzo forced an interception along the Spartan sideline and the tightroped his way for a 74 yard pick six with just fifteen seconds left in the quarter.

Southern Lehigh then got their second and last score of the night as running back Blaze Curry found the end zone from eight yeards out to make it a 34-14 score with 7:49 left in the third quarter.

On their ensuing drive Notre Dame was backed up on their own eight yard line, no worries from Quintano and crew, as he hooked up with another speedster Tarif Muhammed , who exploded down the sidelines completing the 92 yard scoring play, and making the score 41-14 with still 6:15 left to go third quarter.

The fourth quarter led to two more scores for the victors, Quintano again finding Gibbs on a 14 yard score with 11:55 remaining and the running back Michael Manlove scored from inside the Spartans five to close out the scoring late in the contest.

“We were excited about play this team(Southern Lehigh) on our field. The last time we played them, we lost to them when these kids were sophomores. So the way we executed the game plan tonight I am pleased with our performance.” coach Phil Stambaugh stated after the game.
Notre Dame Green Pond(2-0) will now face Northern Lehigh next Friday in Slatington, the Bulldogs coming off a one point loss Thursday night to Northwestern Lehigh 34-33. Southern Lehigh (0-2) will alsobe on thw road at Northwestern Lehigh who is 2-0 on the season.
