Mechanicsburg – Cole Ordway’s pair of touchdowns helped the East Squad complete the sweep of the West, 14-10, at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.
Earlier in the day, the East All-Stars knocked off the Western All-Stars 19-14 in the small school all-star game. The nightcap saw the East take a 14-3 third-quarter lead and hold on for the victory.
The West took the opening kickoff and drove 45 yards in eight plays and took the early lead when Chayse Snyder booted a 35-yard field goal. Cole DeLattre of Hollidaysburg completed a 37-yard pass to Gabe Hein from Mars. Hein caught four passes for 84 yards, while DeLattre completed 9-of-22 passes for 121 yards.
Late in the first half, the Easton teammates of Kurtis Crossman and Cole Ordway connected on a 19-yard touchdown pass, giving the East a 7-3 lead that held at the half.
Sean Steckert, who won a state title at Southern Lehigh back in December, had a 30-yard gain on the drive and rushed for 40 yards on four carries.
In the third quarter, Ordway ran an option keeper 68 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 14-3.
Cole Ordway rushed for 82 yards on three carries, while completing 4-of-9 passes for 104 yards and two total touchdowns. He captured the East MVP.
“Yeah, there’s just tons of fun being able to play with new guys and have a blast,” said Ordway. “Being able to hang out with all these guys and play with these great people.”
The West closed the gap when Aiden Nasiadka of Pittsburgh Central Catholic caught a 37-yard touchdown from Trey Wingard of Dubois.
Nasiadka caught five passes for 62 yards and the touchdown to earn West MVP, while Wingard completed 8-of-16 passes for 81 yards.
