A 49 point first half propelled a Green Knight win, up on the hill.

PEN ARGYL- The Green Knights erupted for 49 first half points in their season opener with Wilson Saturday afternoon before a packed house en route to a 49-20 win over Wilson Area in a Colonial/Schuykill League contest.

On a day that weather-wise felt like the 4th of July rather than late August with temps in the 80’s Pen Argyl got the scoring started with a bang as on the opening kick off Alex Moser picked up the bouncing ball from his own 19 yard line and maneuvered his way down the sidelines for a 81 yard jaunt and a 8-0 lead as the Green Knights converted a two-point conversion.

That was not the only explosive play Moser would have have on the afternoon. With his team being backed up on their own ten, he would slip out from his inside slot receiver position and find himself in single coverage. Quarterback Brad Rissmiller would loft a perfect pass down the Wilson sidelines, where Moser would haul the pass in a go 90 yards for the second score and a 15-0 with still 7:18 left in the opening quarter.

The lead swelled to 22-0 a few minutes later when Damian Tyminski took a direct snap and blasted in from 15 yards out with just under two minutes in the quarter.

Wilson would put a temporary stop to the Green Knight scoring spree as quarterback Jeramy Cressman connected with Rodney Bronson for a 63 yard score trimming the lead to 22-7 about a half minute following Tyminski’s score.

On the opening play of the second quarter Caiden Faust would score the first of his two touchdowns from eight yards out making the score 29-7. Tyminski scored his second touchdown from 11 yards to make it 36-7 with 9:44 left till half. Faust added a 0 yard run and a 50 yard touchdown pass from Rissmiller to Moser closed out the scoring for the Knights. Rissmiller was a perfect 6 for 6 passing 180 yards and the two scores. Moser caught just 3 passes for 148 and two scores.

Jeramy Cressman was the one bright spot for the Warriors as he faond the end zone twice in the second half to make the score respectable.

The Knights will try to go 2-0 on the young season as they host Mahanoy Area Saturday. The Golden Bears lost a tough 17-14 decision to Harriton. The Warriors try to even their record as they are home with Palisades, who wee smothered by Bangor 36-8,

WR Ale Moser had this to say after his teams win Saturday.
