Penn Cambria’s Derek Hite Commits To Virginia Military Institute

Yesterday, Penn Cambria’s standout linebacker, Derek Hite, announced his commitment to the Virginia Military Institute. In total, Hite collected six division one offers from VMI, Robert Morris, Saint Francis, Holy Cross, Bucknell, and Richmond.
A highly recruited prospect had a solid amount to choose from, but in the end, he decided VMI was the perfect fit for him.
“I had a great relationship with the coaches and loved everything about the school,” said Hite on what the deciding factor was when choosing VMI. “But it came down to whether I wanted to handle the military part of daily life or not and I decided I did.”
Hite is excited for the challenge of division one football, but he has would also like to represent during in his collegiate career.
Hite stated, “I’m excited to see what I can do at the division one level. I would love to represent my school, my family, and myself in the best way possible.”
The 2023 3a second team all state linebacker is set for a big senior season this year with the Panthers.
