Peters Township defeats Moon 40-7 and stays undefeated

On Friday October sixth, the Peters Township Indians (6-0) took on the visiting Moon Area Tigers (3-3).
On the last play of the first quarter, Moon scooped a botched jet sweep attempt from Peters Township and returned it inside of Peters five-yard line. With Moon having great field position and a goal to go, Josh Bladel broke the tie with a two-yard rushing touchdown. Moon lead 7-0 with 10:30 in the second quarter.

Late in the second quarter, Peters Township quarterback, Nolan DiLucia, ran 91 yards to the endzone on a quarterback keeper. However, a miscue on the extra point lead to no points on the conversion. Peters Township still trailed Moon 7-6 with 3:40 left in the second quarter.

On Peters’ Township last drive of the first half, they marched down the field right before time expired and scored on a Carter Shanafelt two-yard receiving touchdown. At halftime, Peters Township led Moon 13-7.

It was not until the fourth quarter when Peters Township put more points on the board. With 10:30 left in the fourth quarter, Dominic Sirianni rushed for a 15-yard touchdown. the extra point was no good. Peters Township led Moon 19-7.
The next three scores from Peters Township all came with under nine minutes left in the game. The next three scores were also scored by the same player. Carter Shanafelt had a 70-yard receiving touchdown, a 74-yard receiving touchdown, and an interception returned touchdown. Shanafelt recorded three scores in a span of two minutes and thirty seconds.

Those touchdowns from Shanafelt would propel Peters Township to a 40-7 lead which would end up being the final.
With this conference victory, Peters Township now (7-0) sets back Moon now (3-4). Only three regular season games remain until playoffs.
