PFN’s Road Trippin’ With Davin: Week 1

Welcome everyone to my new series beginning this year called “PFN’s Road Trippin’ With Davin,” where I’ll be talking about all the games I cover each week. Last season I did individual previews for each game, so this year I decided to condense it all to one. With that let’s take a look at the three games that I will be at this weekend. It’s always tougher to talk about what high school teams will look like before the season begins since we haven’t seen them yet, but let’s see what we can do.
Loyalsock Lancers (0-0) vs Central Columbia Blue Jays (0-0)
Friday 8/28, 7:00 PM, Blue Jay Stadium
Blue Jay Stadium is the stadium that I called home for four years of my life, so returning there is always a homecoming for me. The Central Columbia Blue Jays will be welcoming in the Loyalsock Lancers for the first time since 2023. The Blue Jays are 3-7 in their last ten games against Loyalsock, their last victory coming in 2017, with their last home victory coming all the back in 2012, which was Justin Van Fleet’s first year as Loyalsock’s head coach. The Lancers went 5-6 in 2025, which was their first losing record since Van Fleet took over in 2012, however they have made the playoffs every year since he took over. Central Columbia is on the opposite end of that spectrum. Fresh off of an 0-10 season in 2025, they enter their second season under head coach Ky Seesholtz. The Blue Jays are in the early stages of a rebuilding program, they have one of the youngest rosters in the district, so they likely won’t be competing for anything meaningful this year. Loyalsock is definitely the favorite heading into this game, I wouldn’t be surprised if this game was on the sloppier side considering it is the opening week of the year and how many key talents the Lancers needed to replace this offseason.
Salisbury Township Falcons (0-0) vs South Philadelphia Rams (0-0)
Saturday 8/29, 12:00 PM, South Philadelphia Supersite
Philadelphia, a place that you will likely find me in a lot this season. This will be my first time seeing both of these teams play, the South Philadelphia Rams welcoming in the Salisbury Township Falcons. Both teams are coming off of disappointing 2025 campaigns, with South Philadelphia finishing 2-7 last season while Salisbury Township finished 2-9. One thing to watch for in this game a Salisbury Township’s quarterback Keaton Frye, who is returning for his senior season after missing the last three games of the season with a season ending injury.
Camden Panthers (NJ) vs Imhotep Charter Panthers (0-0)
Saturday 8/29, 6:00 PM, Germantown Supersite
What an exciting contest we’ve got here, the number two ranked team in Pennsylvania’s 5A class, and one of the highest ranked teams in the state of New Jersey. Game three of my weekend will feature the Imhotep Charter Panthers welcoming in the Camden Panthers. This will be my first team seeing an out of state team, as well as my first time seeing Imhotep Charter. Imhotep moved from 6A down to 5A this past year and finished with an 8-5 record, Camden went 12-2 in 2025 and won the New Jersey state title in group 2. These are two of the strongest schools in the northeast region of the country, with both teams filled with incredible athletes, and I expect this game to be one of the best games of the week.
