Week 7 Recap:
Overbrook 24 Vaux 0: Overbrook jumped out early on Vaux behind the dynamic duo of QB Jineer Fogan & WR Khary Bruce. Brook improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 within the division.
Olney 18 Thomas Edison 12: The Olney Trojans earned their first win of the season with an overtime win over Edison.
Frankford 14 Boys Latin 6: The Pioneers defense held Boys Latin in the 4th quarter to preserve the victory and improve their record to 7-1 including 4-0 within the division.
Simon Gratz 20 Martin Luther King 14: The Simon Gratz Bulldogs leaned on RB/KR Tray Parson who returned a kick 85 yards for a touchdown. The defense forced 2 fumbles while holding King to under 150 total yards of offense.
Bonner Prendie 41 Father Judge 14: RB Mick Johnson ran for over 150 yards and 4 TDs in the big win for the Friars as they remain unbeaten in CL Red Division play. Bonner improved to 5-0 on the season.
Morrisville 28 Kipp 12: Morrisville improved to 6-1 behind Raymond Holman rushing for 173 yards & 1 TD. His backfield mate Shakur Dismukes ran for 76 yards & 1 TD.
Archbishop Ryan 28 Lansdale Catholic: 12: Ryan RB Christon Mitchell-Brown ran for 107 yards & 2 TDs. He also caught 3 passes for 26 yards. Defensively he racked up 7 tackles & 2 passes broken up in the win.
Archbishop Wood 42 West Catholic 20: RB Yasin Lowry rushed for 100+ yards & 2 TDs while QB Karon Shedrick ran for 100+ yards & 4 TDs in the win. For West Catholic Sr. QB Kal-El Durham ran for 126 yards & 2 TDs. He also threw for 105 yards & 1 TD in the loss.
Archbishop Carroll 31 Neumann Goretti 30 (OT): The Carroll Patriots earned an upset victory over Neumann behind the legs of RB Aaron Barnes who ran for 192 yards & 3 TDs. West Catholic RB Kyreese Bradley ran for 120 yards & 1 TD while QB Deante Ruffin ran for 95 yards & 2 TDs while also throwing for 148 yards.
South Philadelphia 7 Palumbo 6: The Southern Rams thanks to a successful extra point defeated Palumbo to keep their division title chances alive with help from other teams still needed.
Conwell Egan 24 Executive Education Academy 6: Conwell Egan RB Monty Zoryea ran for 10 times for 100 yards & a TD in the win. The defense nabbed 2 interceptions to keep Executive offense bottled down most of the evening.
West Philadelphia 1 Belmont 0: The Speedboys won their divisional matchup with Belmont via forfeit as Belmont was ineligible to play this week due to a physical altercation v Washington high last week.
La Salle 35 St. Joseph’s Prep 34 (4 OT): The Explorers defeated SJP for the first time since 2021 thanks to Jr. QB Gavin Sidwar (Rutgers) sensational performance in which he went 27/48, 266 yards & 4 TDs. Jr. DB Joey O’Brien caught 9 passes for 83 yards & 1 TD. RB Desmond Ortiz caught 4 passes for 73 yards. SJ Prep got 90 rushing yards from Khyan Billups and So. QB Charlie Foulke threw for 207 yards & 4 TDs in the narrow defeat. With the win La Salle is in the driver seat for the CL Red Division title. Prep Kicker Leo Ricci booted a 42 yard FG and 4 extra points in the loss.
William Penn Charter 30 Wyoming Seminary College Prep 12: The Quakers improved to 5-0 on the season with a double-digit win over Wyoming. QB Tom McGlinchey went 17-25 for 239 yards & 2 TDs. WR Tate Taylor caught 5 passes for 110 yards & 1 TD. Defensively they got interceptions from Matt Furda & Eian Kilpatrick.
Imhotep Charter 48 Northeast 13: Tep would jump out to a 28-0 halftime lead and coasted through the second half. RB Ronnell “Bam” Word ran for 78 yards & 2 TDs while RB Syeer Coleman added 137 rushing yards, 1 TD along with a 27-yard TD reception.
Central 30 Mastery Charter North 16: The Central Lancers continued their success earning their 5th win of the season in comfortable fashion.
Abraham Lincoln 44 John Bartram 0: Abraham Lincoln was able to get back on the winning track with a big win over John Bartram. The win produced the first shutout of the season for the Railsplitters.
Games of the Week:
William Penn Charter @ Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (Thursday @3pm:) Both programs enter the contest a perfect 5-0 and begin their Inter-Ac schedule. William Penn enters the game averaging 30 points per game while only giving up roughly 8 points per game. QB Tom McGlinchey has thrown for 741 yards & 9 TDs this season thus far with his favorite targets being WR’s Matt Furda (12-254-3 TDs), Tate Taylor (10-203-1 TD) along with RB Eian Kilpatrick (72 carries, 516 yards & 5 TDs). Springside Chestnut Hill is led by Jr. QB Liam Zelam who has thrown for 708 yards & 11 TDs along with rushing for 379 yards & 8 TDs on the ground. Sr. RB Finn Whittle & WR Aaron Clark lead the offensive skill guys in rushing & receiving respectively. Defensively they’re led by a trio of Juniors in LB Harry Kull, DL Sadeik Willis & DL Amari Fallen.
Haverford School @ Germantown Academy (Thursday @3pm) : The Fords enter the contest 3-2 while Germantown brings a 4-1 record into the Inter-Ac opener. Germantown is led by Jr. QB Xavier Stearn who has thrown for 1323 yards, 19 touchdowns while also rushing for 2 additional touchdowns. WR AJ Towsen is his main target as he has 530 receiving yards to go with 8 TDs. Michael McKee has 26 receptions, 10 total TDs (9 receiving, 1 KR) while also contributing 3 interceptions on defense.
Northeast @ Lincoln (Friday @3pm): The Vikings & Railsplitters will battle in what will be for the 2nd seed in the Public League 6A playoffs that begin in a couple of weeks.
School of the Future @ Frankford (Friday @3pm): Another key division game with Frankford looking to win the division title outright. With a win by Future, the Firebirds can stay alive with a division title.
LaSalle College @Bonner Prendie (Friday @5pm): The Explorers fresh off their big win over SJ Prep, will travel to Bonner for a CL Red Divisional matchup. This game will feature two teams with high scoring offense. La Salle is pass heavy with Jr. QB Gavin Sidwar (Rutgers) has thrown for 1722 yards & 22 TD passes. WR/DB Joey O’Brien has 620 receiving yards & 8 TD receptions while John-Patrick Oates has stepped up recently adding 313 receiving yards & 3 TD receptions. For Bonner their offense is led by Sr. RB Mick Johnson who has run for 543 yards & 14 TDs. Jr. QB Noel Cambell has thrown for 1013 yards & 10 TDs. WR’s Jeremiah Coleman & Jalil Hall (West Virginia) have combined for 691 receiving yards & 7 TD receptions.
