Weekly Game Recap:
Lower Moreland 26 Thomas Edison 8: Lower Moreland jumped out to an early 24-0 lead and coasted the final quarter for the win.
Dobbins 20 Mastbaum 16: The Dobbins Mustangs earned a gutsy win over rival tech school Mastbaum to improve to 203 within the division. Mastbaum remains winless on the 2024 campaign.
Fels 12 Vaux 6: Fels earned a walk-off win with a TD reception with no time left on the clock.
Palumbo 12 Kensington 0: Palumbo improves to 4-4 & 3-2 within the division with the shutout win over Kensington.
Imhotep 50 Martin Luther King 0: Tep So. QB Joe McLeish in just over a half threw for 204 yards & 4 TDs while Sr. WR Isaiah Prater caught 8 passes for 53 yards & 4 TDs in the win.
Lincoln 40 Northeast 6: The Railsplitters extended their winning streak over Northeast to 3 games as they ran away in the 2nd half with the victory. Starring for Lincoln was Sr. QB Mahir Jordan who accounted for 6 total TDs (5 passing & 1 rushing). Sr. WR Joseph Gonzalez caught 4 passes for 100 yards & 1 TD.
Frankford 18 HS of the Future 14: The Pioneers improved to 7-1 with a gutsy win over HS of Future. With the win Frankford has assured itself of at least a share of the division title.
Boys Latin 34 Central 22: Boys Latin scored an upset victory over Central. With the loss Central is now tied with West Philly & Central with one week left in the regular season.
La Salle 35 Bonner-Prendie 13: La Salle jumped out to an 28-0 first half lead behind the duo of Jr. QB Gavin Sidwar (Rutgers) who threw for 206 yards & 3 TDs. WR’s Joey O’Brien (3/54/1TD), Joshua Simmons (4/42/1TD) & John-Patrick Oates (3/65/1TD). Bonner Jr. QB Noel Campbell (182 yards & 1 TD) and Sr. WR Jalil Hall (6/76/2TDs) led the Friars.
Conwell-Egan 14 Neumann Goretti 0: Conwell-Egan shut out Neumann and held them under 100 total yards of offense. Egan QB Aubrey Kimbrough threw for 131 yards. WR Chris Toombs caught 3 passes for 98 yards.
George Washington 24 Sun Valley 14: GW earned a big non-league victory behind QB Tyson Scott legs as he rushed for 2 long touchdowns. RB Patrick Wright added a 42-yard touchdown in the 3rd quarter.
Lansdale 30 Archbishop Carroll 14: Lansdale QB Yeboa Cobbold ran for 42 yards, threw for a TD and rushed for a score in the win over Carroll. The Patriots got 108 passing yards and a TD from QB Jay Boyd.
St. Joes Prep 35 Cardinal O’Hara 14: So. QB Charlie Foulke threw for 220 yards & 3 TDs while Fr. WR Jett Harrison caught 4 passes for 99 yards & 1 TD. O’Hara Jr. QB John Welde threw for 222 yards & 1 TD while Sr. WR Khalil Epps caught 9 passes for 142 yards & 1 TD while also recording 2 interceptions on defense.
South Philadelphia 16 Roxborough 2: The Southern Rams extended their winning streak to 4 games and remain in contention for the division title with some help needed from Frankford.
West Philadelphia 21 Mastery Charter North 0: The West Philly Speedboys got 94 rushing yards & 1 TD from Sr. RB Zahfir Cleveland while his backfield mate Jr. QB Xavier Howard ran for 66 yards & 1 TD while also passing for 58 yards and a TD. Defensively the Speedboys got sacks from Amin Winston, Sa’iyd Harper-Hines & Khal Morris-Ali. The game was halted in the 3rd quarter due to an injured Mastery player.
Roman Catholic 54 Father Judge 24: Roman earned the divisional win behind the arm of Jr. QB Semaj Beals who threw for 369 yards & 5 TDs in the victory. Amongst his favorite targets on the evening were Sr. Rayshawn Scott (5/123/3TDs), Sr. Eyan Stead (3/43), Will Felder (1 for 92 yard TD), Eisa Nealy (2/64) and Zamir Newsuan (2/36). Defensively Sr. CB Christian Palmer (Monmouth) & Will Felder both recorded interceptions.
Gratz 20 Bartram 0: With the victory Gratz locked up the top 3A seed in the Public League Playoffs while also improved to 6-2 on the season.
Kipp 24 Overbrook 16: Overbrook jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the 1st quarter behind strong running from Josiah Carter on a 42 yard scamper. Kipp would respond after recovering a fumble deep in Brook territory early in the 3rd quarter. They’d follow that fumble recovery with a TD reception of their own from Amir Miller. With just over 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter Overbrook retook the lead on another Josiah Carter rushing touchdown covering 37 yards and Brook expanded the lead to 16-8. Kipp wouldn’t go away and the next possession would score a TD on a beautiful play from QB Owens to Amir Miller once again for a 48 yard touchdown to tie the game with 8:12 left in regulation. From there Kipp defense buckled down and Ray Maxwell Greene scored the winning score with 4:40 left in regulation to give Kipp the win and American Division title.
West Catholic 22 Ben Franklin 6: The Burrs earned their 2nd win of the season with a great rushing attack. RB Angelo Rossi ran for 124 yards while Shane Wright provided 83 yards on the ground in the victory. QB Kal-El Durham threw for 78 yards & 2 TDs.
Archbishop Ryan 29 Archbishop Wood 7: Ryan Jr. QB Frankie Mawson threw for 188 yards & 3 TDs while also rushing for a score leading the Raiders to the CL Blue win. Sr. WR Damien Morgan caught 14 passes for 149 yards & 2 TDs. Archbishop Wood Sr. RB Yasin Lowry ran for 97 yards to become the first PCL rusher to gain over 1000 yards on the ground this season.
Belmont 42 Olney 0: With the win Belmont improved to 3-4 on the season and more importantly 3-3 within the division. Olney dropped to 1-4 within the division & 1-7 overall.
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 21 William Penn Charter 7: The SCHA Blue Devils improved to 6-0 overall and opened Inter-Ac play with a victory. Jr. QB Liam Zelman shined rushing for 125 yards, passing for 85 yards and 2 TDs in the win. WR Aaron Clark caught 5 balls for 70 yards & 2 TDs while Sr. LB Colin McFadden racked up 7 tackles, 1 sack & 1 tackle for loss. For Penn Charter, QB Tom McGlinchey threw for 215 yards and 1 TD. WR Tate Taylor caught 2 passes for 76 yards and a score while WR Eian Kilpatrick added 4 receptions for 57 yards.
Haverford School 40 Germantown Academy 26: In an Inter-Ac league opener for both teams Haverford came out on top behind a dominant performance from LB turned RB Colin Campbell-Williams who ran for 192 yards & 3 TDs. His final TD run sealed the win for the Fords. For the GA Patriots Xavier Stearn threw for 308 yards & 1 TD while also rushing for two short touchdowns.
Malvern Prep 41 Episcopal Academy 0: The EA Churchmen hung in the game early only trailing 7-0 after a quarter of play thanks to forcing & recovering 2 fumbles. However, Malvern utilized a larger offensive line and physical style to wear EA down as the game progressed. For Malvern, Jake Bauer (Navy) recovered 2 fumbles and returned one for a touchdown. Zade Johnson (Air Force) racked up 5 tackles including a sack. QB Jackson Melconian (Vanderbilt for baseball) threw for 158 yards & 2 TDs for Malvern.
