In a thriller of a game between the number 2 ranked Penn Hills and the number 3 ranked Pine-Richland, Pine-Richland comes out on top with a game winning drive led by freshman QB Aaron Strader leaving 2 seconds on the clock.

Majority of this game was played as a defensive battle. Each of the teams had aggressive drives that ending in failed third down conversions leading to punts because of the stellar defense that was played from the Indians and Rams.

Late in the second quarter, the scoreless game opened up with Penn Hills striking first with a field goal.

After an upsetting offensive drive for the Rams after the field goal, the defense showed up for the Rams to keep the Indians out of the endzone before halftime with a fumble with 5 seconds remaining in the half.

Entering halftime within an hour of starting the game, going 3-0, this game was going by fast, but wasn’t going to end fast.

With the defense continuing to show up making huge plays and stops on the line, the third quarter almost ended scoreless, that was until a, monster pick up of a 70-yard run from Penn Hills RB Amir Key setting the team up in Ram territory. Then, QB Julian Duggar took it into the endzone for the first touchdown of the evening and the last for the Indians’ season.

Ending the third quarter at 9-0 with Penn Hills leading, the fourth quarter was heated with defensive stops. One fumble forced and picked up by  teams leading to Pine-Richland finally getting on the board for a 42-yard field goal leaving 3 minutes and 34 seconds left in the 5A semi-final game.

Now with a score of 9-3, Pine-Richland needed to pull the comeback. The Rams did exactly that leaving two seconds left on the board after freshman QB Aaron “Oobi” Strader scrambled the ball in for the game tying touchdown.

Now 10-9 after the extra point kick was up and good, the Rams kicked it off into the endzone giving the Indians one final play of the season. The Indians fumbled the ball and was picked up by the Rams for a scoop and score touchdown to end regulation with a score of 16-9.

Penn Hills Indians season is now over and will head home looking to enter the championship next year.

Pine-Richland Rams will now head to the 5A Championship against the undefeated Peters Township Indians at Norwin Knights Staduim in Norwin on Saturday, November 18th at 12:00 pm.
