Roman Catholic earns 5 PA Writers All State 5A Selections

After a historical season in which Roman Catholic won the Catholic League 5A title, their first District 12 title and advanced to their first state title game in program history. Head coach Rick Prete led Roman to a 11-5 record where they fell just short in overtime to Bishop McDevitt High School in the championship game. With winning comes awards and this season Roman had 5 players named to the PA Football Writers All State 5A team.

Leading the pack was Jr QB Semaj Beals who shattered records as a 3rd year starting QB passing for a school and league record 4135 yards and 50 touchdown passes. Semaj would also run for 7 additional touchdowns on the ground.

Senior WR Rayshawn Scott was named to the all state team after shattering school, Catholic league and city league records for receiving yards in a season with 1399 yards. A threat to take if the distance anytime he had the ball in his hands Rayshawn scored 15 receiving touchdowns and rushed for 2 additional scores while also throwing a touchdown pass.

Sr DL Mykell Ford also earned all state honors after posting 42 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss including 2 sacks, a rushing touchdown, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.

Sr LB Will Felder a Duke University signee racked up 66 tackles including 10 tackles for loss and a half sack, 3 interceptions including a pick-six and a fumble recovery.

Sr CB Christian Palmer a Monmouth University signee was honored after posting a team leading 5 interceptions including a pick 6 while posting 52 tackles and returning a fumble for a touchdown as well.
