Roxborough High finally broke through the winning column Thursday afternoon as they earned a hard fought 20-8 victory over Kensington High. The victory broke a three game skid for the Wolves. After a scoreless first quarter Roxborough would get on the board when a Kensington punt went backwards setting the Roxborough offense up with a short field where they’d score on a 6 yard quarterback keeper and convert the 2 point conversion via the same way to take a 8-0 lead with 6:52 left in the first half. Kensington would have an opportunity to score right before halftime with 20 seconds remaining in the red zone and 2 timeouts in their pocket they ran a play in the middle of field and without using a timeout time ran out before they could spike the ball.

Roxborough would open the second half scoring when Shane Bennett took a pass 21 yards to the end zone breaking a tackle and darting in for the touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0 with 9:14 left in the 3rd quarter. Kensington would get on the board with 1:23 left in the 3rd quarter with an impressive drive capped by a short two yard rushing score to cut the lead to 14-6. Roxborough would cap the scoring off with a 2 yard rushing touchdown by Anthony Parker-Hicks to seal the victory.

Roxborough will host Vaux Big Picture next Friday while Kensington who is still in search of their first win of the season will travel to Frankford for another divisional game.
