Shamokin and Jersey Shore battled it out for more than 48 minutes, in the end, it was a Shamokin win and a District Title.
Shamokin has been domiannt in 2024. The Indians enter the game with a perfect 11-0 record. They haven’t had many close games in their impressive season but did struggle against Jersey Shore in the regular season. They were able to squeak out a tight 30-28 victory back in September, this one would be even closer.
Although entering the game with three losses, Jersey Shore is a darn good ball club. When they win, they will win by a lot. Their three losses were all one-score games. Jersey Shore is beatable, but not by much. The Bulldogs entered the game looking for revenge, and it just slipped out of their hands.
2 even teams, a district title on the line, Here’s what happened:
Shamokin came out and landed a massive haymaker in the first quarter. QB Logan Steele loaded up and found his WR Ben Delbaugh for a 76-yard score. Steele to Delbaugh would become a common theme in this game, and in big moments as well.
After the Indian’s TD, it was Jersey Shore’s offense’s job to pick up their end of the bargain, and they did. QB Elijah Jordan extended the play, looked downfield, and found Evan Snyder for a deep score. The game was tied, but the Bulldogs weren’t done, they attempted an onside kick and recovered. Bulldogs ball with the momentum. Shamokin, however, didn’t let the Bulldogs further encapsulate the momentum for the time being, and they got a stop.
What a throw by @elijahjordann1 .
Evan Snyder with the reception, we are tied. Shaping up to be a good one!

Both teams traded punts until Jersey Shore got the ball back. RB Bo Sechrist took the handoff and did not go down until he was in the endzone, The Bulldogs led 14-7.
Bo Sechrist would not go down!!!@bosechrist1

Into the 2nd half, Shamokin trailing, they were desperate for a big play. That’s when Steele found WR Chase Pensyl for a Touchdown. It was a bang-bang play with a possibility of Offensive PI as Pensyl and the defender collided, I’ll let you be the judge.
Shamokin evens it up with a @SteeleLogan4 TD to @ChasePensyl to tie the game at 14!@PaFootballNews pic.twitter.com/FPvYWIrBTj

After a Jersey Shore score, Shamokin was trailing again, but not for long. After a poor snap, Steele picked the ball up, backpedaled, gathered his thoughts, and chucked a prayer down the field, and it was answered. Delbaugh came down with a contested catch and ran in for a score, tied at 21.
WHAT A SCORE!!!@SteeleLogan4 extends the play, scrambles out and finds @DelbaughBen to tie the game up at 21.
This is one of the best plays you will see in a High School Football game @PaFootballNews pic.twitter.com/EdXuh2LrN4— Mason Eddinger (@Mason_PFN) November 9, 2024
The game would stay tied until we got to OT. 4 plays from the 10-yard line to decide a District Championship: no pressure. In the first play of OT, Steele fired another contested jump ball. But, when you’re throwing to Ben Delbaugh it’s not really a contested ball, Shamokin led 28-21.
First play of OT, @SteeleLogan4 throws it up to @DelbaughBen to give Shamokin a 28-21 lead
Will Jersey Shore answer ?@PaFootballNews pic.twitter.com/uSnwieLz14— Mason Eddinger (@Mason_PFN) November 9, 2024
Jersey Shore had their chance to answer, and they did. Jordan found Snyder in the endzone and trailed by a point. Their kicking woes continued. There was trouble on the delivery of the snap and the placekicker, who just so happens to be Elijah Jordan had to make magic happen. He heaved a ball into the endzone, but nobody was able to secure it, Shamokin won 28-27.
ON A BOBBLED SNAP, JERSEY SHORE IS UNABLE TO CONVERT !!!!!!!!!!

This game was a classic. It’s one of those that it’s a shame someone had to lose. Like in the regular season, Shamokin squeaked out a tough win.
For Jersey Shore, another successful season, but unable to advance and play for a State Championship.
Shamokin, however, keeps marching on and will play the winner of Juniata and Bellefonte.
