St Joes Prep storms past Bonner 56-14

The SJ Prep Hawks reached .500 for the first time this season coasting past CL Red Division member Bonner 56-14 Saturday afternoon. The Hawks after losing their first three games are now 4-4 on the season. They scored early in the first quarter on a pass and catch from Jr QB Charlie Foulke to Jr. WR Alston Frisbee with a 2 yard touchdown pass with 6:39 left in the first quarter. Bonner turned the ball over on downs on their first possession deep in their own territory giving Prep possession at the Bonner 30 yard line. After a first down sack Charlie found Sr Khyan Billups (Monmouth) for a 40 yard touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0. Bonner failed to move the ball punting back to SJ Prep and Charlie hooked up with So. WR Jett Harrison for a 60 yard touchdown to extend the lead to 21-0. Jr LB John Boggs would intercept a pass returning it into Bonner territory where Charlie would find Jett for his second score of the game to extend the lead to 28-0 as the first quarter came to an end. Prep tacked on 3 additional scores in the 2nd quarter before halftime to go into the half up 49-0.
The second had began with Bonner having the ball and despite the large deficit the Friars fought and found the endzone courtesy of a 2 yard run by Mekhi Martin to cut the lead to 49-7. The Friars defense stood tall and forced a Prep punt and on the ensuing drive Sr RB Saalem Frink (Stonehill) rumbled 65 yards to the endzone to cut into the lead 49-14. Prep added an final score on a 4th quarter run by So Nahjee Williams to provide the final score of the afternoon with Prep winning 56-14.
Next up for Prep is a regular season finale with Cardinal O’Hara while Bonner will regroup and prepare for next weekends regular season finale with Roman Catholic.
