Shamir is excited about heading south to Towson to help rebuild the historical program. He stated that his recruiting process was up and down. “Feeling like you have a home one week and then being told you can’t come there is difficult to deal with in the process. But you know you have to just trust your process, put the work in and everything else will work itself out”. Shamir actually didn’t receive the Towson offer until the Monday of the state championship game when Coach Shinnik came to the school, told him that the staff loves him, and they wanted to stay in touch. The next day Coach Walker called and gave him the official offer. Other schools that were interested in securing his services were University of Buffalo & University of Delaware. With regards to being able to go to college and play with teammate Kahseim “Caddy Phillips” he stated “It’s going to be a lot of fun, competing with a familiar face at practice and battling together during games. Caddy was definitely an aid in me coming to Towson”. Shamir wanted to make sure he gave thanks to his parents & brother’s “they always been there for me from the very start no matter what”. He also extended thanks and gratitude to SJ Prep Head Coach Tim Roken, Coach Stratz, Coach Ty & Hass and all of the Prep coaches while also singling out his offseason DB coaches Keita Bing & Wright along with all the other coaches & trainers he’s had through the years. Towson is looking to rise back to the top of the CAA and Shamir stated “A lot of work is going to be put in this offseason on and off the field, I definitely want to be able to contribute to this team’s success as soon as possible”.
