Team Ronald McDonald House Wins Storm Shortened 55th Annual Lehigh Valley All Star Football Classic 34-16

Team Ronald McDonald House scored early and often to build a large lead before stormy weather hit Andrew S. Leh Field in Nazareth to claim a 34-16 victory over Team St Luke’s Children Hospital with 6:11 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The theme of the game featured both teams wearing red, white, and blue uniforms to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the USA. Each charity received $15,000 for their respective causes. Team St. Lukes won the coin toss and elected to receive.

St. Luke’s started Emmaus QB Peter Sherman with 1st and 10 on their own 36, and were able to get 6 yards before completing a 20 yard pass to PME’s Connor Triano to the 38 of Ronald McDonald House, but were unable to capitalize and turned the ball over on downs to Ronald McDonald House at their own 29.

On the first play from the Ronald McDonald House 29, Easton QB Cole Ordway hit Northampton WR Noah Kline for 36 yards to the St. Luke’s 35 yard line. A few plays later, Southern Lehigh RB Sean Steckert punched it in from 3 yards out on 1st and goal to give Ronald McDonald House a 7-0 lead with 6:34 remaining in the 1st quarter.

St. Luke’s took over 1st and 10 at their own 28, but an intentional grounding call stalled the drive, leading to a punt.

Ronald McDonald House took over at their own 20 yard line, a few plays later from their own 38, Cole Ordway took off for a 62 yard TD run to extend their lead to 14-0 with 4:32 left in the 1st quarter.

After St. Luke’s took over on their own 32, they went 3 and out and punted the ball back to Ronald McDonald House.

Ronald McDonald House took over at their own 34. After Cole Ordway got sacked on 1st and 10, leading to 2nd and 18 from their own 26, Ordway completed a 44 yard pass to RB Sam Dech of Phillipsburg to the 30 of St Luke’s. 2 plays later on 1st and 10 from the 12, Ordway found Lehighton WR Caden Meek for the team’s 3rd TD of the night and extended their lead to 21-0 with just over 10 mins left in the 2nd quarter.

St. Luke’s started the ensuing possession at their own 25, and on 2nd and 9, ESN QB Wayne King ran 37 yards to the 37 of Ronald McDonald House. On 2nd and 10 from the 37, King hit Emmaus WR Kai Jefferson for a touchdown to bring St Luke’s within 13, 21-8 following a successful 2 pt try with 8:12 to go in the 2nd quarter.

Ronald McDonald House took over at their own 40. On 1st down, Palisades QB Jack Trickle hit Northampton WR Noah Kline for 46 yards to bring them to the St. Luke’s 14. On 4th and 13 from the 18, Trickle hit Kline again for a TD, extending their lead to 27-8 with 5:50 left in the 2nd.

St. Lukes started the next possession at their own 41, but a holding penalty stalled the drive and forced a 3 and out.

Ronald McDonald House started the next possession at their 44, but only gained 6 yards to midfield before having to punt it away.

St. Luke’s took over on their own 12, but ended up punting the ball.

Ronald McDonald House took over at their own 45 and 3 plays later, Jack Trickel hit Noah Kline for a 40 yard TD and extended their lead to 34-8 as time ran out in the half.

Due to the score being 34-8 in favor of Ronald McDonald House, St. Luke’s got the ball to start the 2nd half, taking over 1st and 10 on their own 40. Sherman started the half at QB, completing his first 2 passes, one of them a 5 yarder to Pleasant Valley WR Jaxson Haines to Ronald McDonald House’s 34, before PME RB Amari Green ran it 33 yards to the goal line. Sherman finished it off with a 1 yard TD run and completed a 2 pt try to WR JJ Brader of Parkland to cut the deficit to 34-16 with 9:19 left in the 3rd quarter.

Following the score, St. Luke’s got the ball back on the ensuing possession at their own 35 and got to the 43 of Ronald McDonald House before the game was called due to weather following an incomplete pass at 6:11 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
