The Central Bucks South Titans have an offensive explosion against the North Penn Knights

This was one of the more interesting games I’ve seen in recent years as it seems like both teams starting progressively got better throughout the entire game. The 1st quarter was pretty quiet and uneventful on both sides. Both teams not doing much of anything offensively which resulted in a score of zero to zero at the end of the first.

Now the 2nd quarter is where the teams started to heat up a bit. The Titans strike first with Quarterback, Owen Pinkerton rushing for a 33-yard touchdown.  Their defense has a good drive as the stop the knight’s offense forcing a punt and the very first play of their next offensive drive resulted in an impressive 75-yard rushing touchdown from running back Anthony Leonardi. This won’t be the last you hear that name in this article. This specific play however was an example of everything going right for the Titans as it was a simple run up the middle executed beautifully. The offensive linemen deserve some praise on this play because that might be the best blocked play, I’ve seen in a long time at the high school level. I could’ve ran through the hole and scored the way it was blocked.

The Knights respond with a long yet efficient drive of their own with a combination of passes from their quarter back Matt Bucksar along with rushes from junior running back Chris Scruggs Jr. Senior running back Amir Major capped off this drive with him truck-sticking his way into the endzone off a 10-yard rush. So now there’s about four minutes left in the half with a score of 12-7.

Suddenly touchdowns started popping off like fireworks as both teams end up scoring making the score 25-13 at half which is pretty impressive considering the 1st quarter both teams ended up scoreless after the 1st quarter.

Titans running back Corey Moore was the first to score in this quick four-minute touchdown party. Major of the Knights responded with a touchdown of his own. The Titans ended up getting the last laugh for this half as Pinkerton threw a laser into the hands of tight end Jake Menaker for the final score of the four-minute touchdown party.

The Knights are the first ones with the ball the start the second half and I noticed something very interesting during this specific drive. Coach Beck used the athletic abilities of sophomore quarter back Matt Bucksar with a bunch of designed quarter back runs. Which for North Penn is a new playstyle from what I remember. The knights previous quarter back Ryan Zelt was more of a pocket passer, so the run wasn’t much needed, but with Bucksar being a dual threat possibility are endless. Bucksar being only a sophomore shows flashes of his full potential with his running and passing ability. Amir Major completed the hat trick by getting his third rushing touchdown of the game making the score 20-25

The rest of this game was basically one sided as CB South completely took over the rest of the game.

The rushing attack started killing the knights defense with most rushes being positive gains of 5 or more yards. Pinkerton struck first after the half with a rushing touchdown of his own.

South’s defense showed up huge in the 2nd half with a fumble six caused and scored by defensive end Eddie Bowen who stripped Bucksar of the ball and ran it in for six. On the very next drive we had a very rare big man interception as defensive tackle Justin Dwyer came up with the pick of the failed screen pass which ended the 3rd quarter.

With some more “Derrick Henry like” angry runs from Anthony Leonardi with Pinkerton and Moore getting some rushes as well, the Titans quite literally ran up the score ending the game with a score of 50-28. North Penns only score in the 4th quarter was a short run from Chris Scruggs Jr. who also flashed his potential of being these offenses feature back in the future.

The Titans keep their momentum going as they are now 6-0 on the season as the Knights fall to 2-4. Will the titans be able to keep their undefeated season dreams alive next week against Abington? Will North Penn bounce back in their Homecoming game against Central Bucks East? Stay tuned as these questions and more will be answered in due time.
