On Saturday night Union-Area Defeated Mohawk 40-35 in the battle of the border matchup. In the first quarter Mohawk definitely had the advantage over the Scotties with Mohawk coming out strong with Jay Wrona throwing a touchdown pass to Dante Retort on the first play of the game on the offensive side for the Warriors. Union would end up scoring making it a one score game. The fire between Braylon Thomas and Jay Wrona was very electric in the first half. Mohawk would be leading 28-18 going into halftime. Coming out and into the 3rd quarter both QB’s continued to be hot but Mohawks defense was starting to overpower Union because of how big Mohawk is defensively. This did not stop Braylon Thomas though as he ran in for a couple more touchdowns and then in the 4th quarter had the game saving/clinching the winning interception off of Jay Wrona. This was definitely a game for the ages. Mohawk will travel to Quaker Valley next week at 7PM. Union will travel to Ellwood City as they take on the Wolverines at 7PM.
