This is a rivalry that dates all the way back to 1961, however Warrior Run hasn’t pulled out a victory in this rivalry since October 21st, 2005, where they were able to defeat the Lancers 35-28 at home. Since then, Loyalsock has emerged victorious in the last 12 meetings between these two teams, and all-time they have a 35-6 record against Warrior Run. The Lancers come into this matchup with a 4-2 record, this being the fourth year in a row where they’ve entered week 7 with a 4-2 record or better. Their offense has been headlined by their rushing attack from senior running back Jalil Coates and senior quarterback Danny Dowell, who has accounted for over 1000 total yards this season thanks to his passing and rushing yard totals. Meanwhile on the other side, Warrior Run has had a very balanced offense this season, led by their senior quarterback James Keifer who has thrown for almost 800 yards through 6 games, while their running back Denyn Beachel has averaged 108 rushing yards per game along with 7 touchdowns.
Last year’s matchup between these two teams was the closest one we had seen in years, being decided by a mere point. This year’s matchup should be just as exciting, and I expect this one to be a shootout. History will tell you that Loyalsock has the upper hand in this game, and I believe that they do, but this game could very well go in Warrior Run’s favor for the first time since 2005.
