Mechanicsburg – The West Squad built a 17-0 first-half lead, then had to hold on for a 17-12 victory Sunday night at Chapman Field at Cumberland Valley High School.

In front 3-0, on the opening drive of the second stanza, McDowell’s James Zigler intercepted Demaj Jalloh and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown.

Less than two minutes later, Jayden Zandier was stopped for a 9-yard loss, had the ball stripped by Aliquippa’s Arison Walker, and returned for a touchdown by Altoona’s Mark Harrington.
