Mechanicsburg – The West Squad pitched a 14-0 shutout to win the 2025 PSFCA Small School All-star game at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.

With defense ruling the day, a pair of touchdown passes by Bald Eagle Area’s Carson Nagle proved the difference. Nagle, who had an outstanding career with the Eagles, completed 17 of 25 passes for 254 yards.

The West Squad opened the scoring with an 11-play 80-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Bishop Guilfoyle’s Hamilton Gates, who was playing at Chapman Field for the second time in a calendar year after winning the state title with the Marauders in December.

Nagle completed 8-of-11 passes on the drive, including a 4th-and-2 conversion on an 8-yard completion to Penn Cambria’s Gavin Harrold, who caught a game-high seven passes for 122 yards.

Tyrone’s Trent Adams caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Nagle at the 9:40 mark of the third quarter that would close out the scoring, capping a 5-play 68-yard drive.

The East Squad drove inside the 10-yard line three separate times but came away with zero points.

South Park’s Troy Cunningham was a big reason. The 6’3, 265-pound Temple commit had multiple sacks and several quarterback hurries to close his high school career with a WPIAL Championship and MVP honor.

“It feels great, it’s a great way to end a high school football career,” Cunningham said. “I don’t know how many kids from South Park have done this, but it’s a good opportunity to have fun and play high school football one last time. I’ve worked for it and been grinding all season, so it was good to put in work like that since the season has ended.”

The East Squad had their best chance to score late in the third quarter when they drove to the 16-yard line. Faced with a 4th-and-goal, Kal-El Durham’s pass to the end zone was intercepted by Cambria Heights’ Trey Trybus.

Durham, of West Catholic, led the East Squad, completing 7-of-16 passes for 80 yards, while rushing for a game-high 45 yards on ten carries.
