Pittsburgh – Westinghouse scored 26 second-quarter points en route to a 52-0 victory over Linsly School Thursday night at Cupples Stadium.
The win helped the Bulldogs solve the sting from a 28-26 loss to Beaver last Saturday night at Woodland Hills.
Despite a 3-and-out to begin the contest, Westinghouse scored on their next five consecutive drives to take a commanding 32-0 lead into the locker room.
“We started a little slow. I know we can play better,” said Westinghouse head coach Donta Green. “We’ll watch the film and get right back to it. Honestly, I think the guys found the grove in the game. We have a lot of new and young guys trying to figure things out. That second quarter was when things clicked. We must continue building off this because this isn’t what we want to be. It’s back to the drawing board to figure out our mistakes and fix them for the following week.”
Surprisingly, Linsly threatened early as they drove from their 11-yard line to the Bulldogs’ 20 before a bad snap resulted in a 10-yard loss, followed by a sack that led to a Cadet’s punt.
Jamarrow Trowery returned the ensuing punt to the Cadets’ 23-yard line, where four plays later, Khalil Green connected with Jaylen Standford for a 7-yard touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead after a quarter.

In the second quarter, Westinghouse took advantage of four short fields. They began each drive in Linsly territory, which led to four scores.
Khalil Green scored his first rushing touchdown of the night on a 15-yard run, capping a 47-yard drive – later, Green scored from 11 yards out with 59 seconds to play in the half following a 37-yard drive.
Khalil Mitchell added a 1-yard touchdown run, followed by Lloyd Penn’s 40-yard touchdown reception from Green one play after Jordan Reid intercepted Braden Wade.
Westinghouse intercepted four passes in the contest, including two by Markius Richardson, which thwarted both Linsly drives in the third quarter.
“Our defensive backs responded,” Green said. “Last week, we did not play well; that was a point of emphasis, turning the ball over and making plays. They answered the call. We wanted our defense to force turnovers and give our offense a chance to move the ball.”
Succeeding Richardson’s second interception, the Bulldogs drove 97 yards in 11 plays to enact the running clock when Ayron Pride scored on a 5-yard run with 10:22 to play.

Late in the game, Westinghouse put the finishing touches on the victory when Jamarrow Trowery returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown, and JaKai Collins recovered a fumble in the end zone.
The Bulldogs will prepare for City League play when they take on Brashear next Friday night at Cupples Stadium.
