What the heck’s happening in Districts I & XII This Week: Week 1

Welcome to another week of What the heck’s happening in Districts I and XII. Week zero is in the books, let’s look at what happened.

Milestone Game for Roman Catholic: Last Friday’s night 49-14 victory over Wilson was the program’s 1200 game. It also was the program’s 526 win.

Boyertown’s Cole Yesavage has 5 score day: In the Boyertown Bear’s 33-26 victory over Upper Perkiomen, running back Cole Yesavage tied the school recording by scoring five touchdowns. according to the bears twitter page Yesavage is the third Bear to score that many touchdowns in a game joining Mark Panepinto, Adam Hubley, and Steve Jessum. Yesavage also rushed for 294 yards.

End of Streak: CB West’s 17-13 victory over visiting Garnet Valley snapped the Jaguars’ 34-game winning streak against District 1 opponents. Prior to Friday night, the Jaguars hadn’t lost a game to a district opponent since they fell to Coatesville in the 2019 District 1 Playoffs. The Jaguars currently have a 43-game winning streak against Central League opponents.

Twelve times the charm: After falling to their rivals Great Valley 11 straight times the Phoenixville Phantoms finally defeated the Patriots in convincing fashion 42-14.

Hatboro Horsham Picks Up Opening Day Win: For the first time since at least 2017 season, Hatboro Horsham opened their season with a win defeating Upper Moreland 16-7.

Trio Starts Hot for Council Rock South: The Golden Hawks opened the season with a convincing 27-3 victory over visiting William Tennett. In the game QB Chase Ennis completed 85.7 percent (12 of 14) passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Chase Myers was the workhorse carrying the ball 18 times for 150 yards and one score. Defensively Tom Gallagher had two sacks.

Central League Opens League Play this week: While we haven’t even reached Labor Day yet the Central League will open league play this weekend and there are some bigtime matchups to start: Garnet Valley travels to Ridley, Conestoga travels to Haverford and Strath Haven goes to Springfield.

Two Records Fall in Archbishop Ryan Loss: While the scoreboard might not have led in the Raiders favor night against Archbishop Wood it wasn’t for lack of effort has two Raiders broke records  QB Frankie Mawson broke the PCL single game passing record with 447 yards passing on 29 of 39. Receiver Damian Morgan broke the school record for receiving yards with 194 yards on 12 catches.

Two teams that have to be among the favorites to make noise in District 1 6A Playoffs: Perkiomen Valley at Downingtown West

Two of Philadelphia’s Finest Programs do battle in Delaware: Northeast vs. West Catholic Noon at Salesainum High School
