Dallas:

The Mountaineers have entered mid-season with an outstanding 5-0 record. Their offense has been phenomenal. Quarterback Brady Zapoticky has thrown for 798 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also added six rushing touchdowns. Wideout Zach Paczewski has 21 catches for 472 yards and eight touchdowns on the year. Looking ahead, the one team that looks to threaten their undefeated season will most likely be a home game Week 9 vs Wilkes-Barre Area.

Wyoming Area:

The Warriors are currently undefeated at 5-0. Aaron Crossley is rushing for 686 yards and 13 touchdowns halfway through the season. Wyoming Area has a tough second half schedule with Scranton and Southern Columbia but they should solidify a top three spot in the District 2 4A Playoffs.

Crestwood:

The Comets started off 0-3 but have rebounded to win two straight games to get to 2-3. Of their three losses, they have lost each of those games by a touchdown. Quarteback Jaden Shedlock has 788 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground in his sophomore season. He has thrown for 328 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver/defensive back Colin Lazo has four catches for 108 yards and a touchdown. He also has three interceptions on defense. Looking ahead, Crestwood has a very favorable schedule to where they look to be the favorite of many of these matchups.

Nanticoke:

The Trojans started off with an opening night victory. However, since that night, they lost three straight games but rebounded last week to defeat Lake-Lehman and they are currently 2-3. Running back Zack Fox has 624 yards and six touchdowns on the year. Nanticoke is looking to get back into the District 2 4A Playoffs and they’ll need to sneak out a couple of wins in the next two week if they are to accomplish that goal.

Tunkhannock:

The Tigers are the surprise of the WVC with their 3-2 record. Logan Ross has 723 yards and eight touchdowns for the 2023 season. Tunkhannock will be tested in the second half with the likes of Nanticoke, Pittston Area, Towanda and Williamsport to end the season. If they can sneak a couple of wins, they could make the District 2 4A Playoffs.

Wilkes-Barre Area:

Despite an 0-2 start, the Wolf Pack lost both of those games close. They have bounced back since then to win three straight games. Howie Shiner is rushing for 512 yards and four touchdowns on the season  and quarterback Jake Howe is throwing for 867 yards and 12 touchdowns. Wilkes-Barre Area is a tough schedule down the stretch with Delaware Valley and Dallas in the second half. It’s possible they could go 3-2 or 4-1 but the game against Crestwood is a toss up.

Berwick:

The Bulldogs are currently 1-4 but their schedule has been tough. They started with Southern Columbia on opening night then undefeated Valley View. They bounced back after losing to Abington Heights by defeating Williamsport but fell to Wilkes-Barre Area last week. The schedule in the second half does them no favors as they play Dallas, Danville and Crestwood in the middle of the second half. Running back Tyler Winter has 436 rushing yards and six touchdowns in the first five games this season.
