On Wednesday evening we joined Accountability for Life founder Russell Stoner (York Bearcats head coach), York Suburban head coach Josh Fry, Athletic Director Ron Coursey and an army of volunteers to hold the inaugural AFL Mega Practice held at York Suburban high school. The event drew over 300 student athletes and over 70 college coaches from around 40 colleges from division 1 to division 3.
The folks from Power Train York, PA got things rolling with some strength and agility drills, the players then broke off into positions for training, then there were live drills followed by Power Train leading more training. Then following the event all the college coaches who had been writing down numbers of players they’d like to see more of handed in their cards and those players spent a few extra minutes working out.
We sat down with coach Stoner to learn a little about what the AFL program does, how it operates and how players can be involved in the program.
