Jason Patterson a 6-3 228 edge rusher for Roman Catholic will continue this academic and athletic career on the football gridiron at Duquesne University. Jason starred on a talented Roman team that took state runner up Imhotep down to the wire in the D12 city title game before falling 14-6. Jason finished his senior season with 60 tackles, 1 forced fumble and a team leading 9 sacks to conclude his high school career. The West Philadelphian native also had strong interest and offers from FCS programs such as Virginia Military Institute & Morgan State University. Both programs showed a lot of love and interest in him throughout the recruiting process. Playing at Duquesne which is across the state in Pittsburgh gets him away from home but still within driving distance and most of the conference games will be within a 5-hour drive for his family. That played a part in committing he says because the school is a good distance away while still getting back and forth to see family when time permits. Jason stated “What made me choose this program is the coaching staff showing genuine energy and every conversation felt like a real conversation and nothing felt planned or rehearsed. The team also welcomed me with open arms on my visit and the team felt like a family along with them having a great program.” He plans to major in a form of business possibly business law for the next 4 years while playing at a great university. He’ll join a couple of former city league players such as former CL star CB Ayden Garnes who currently plays for the Dukes and will be a redshirt sophomore next season and rising junior WR Ryan Iacone (Malvern Prep).
