Imhotep’s Keon Wylie commits to Penn State

When it comes to good linebackers in Pennsylvania, you won’t find many better that Imhotep Charter’s Keon Wylie. So it only makes sense that one of the best linebackers in the state would commit to the University known as “Linebacker U”. Today, Wylie made it known to the world that he’s going to attend Penn State following his senior season.

Since starting his football career in the third grade, Wylie has had one dream: to play in the NFL. He’s a step closer to that dream. “I felt like they could use me to the best of my ability and get me to the NFL, and Penn State, they get linebackers to the NFL” said Keon about his decision.

One of many sacks this spring by Wylie  Pic Kathy Leister

Wylie likes to get to the quarterback, and he’s good at it. One of his favorite plays is “Cat d end go inside with a linebacker blitz off the edge.” Though he missed his fall season, he made up for it in the spring season. Against Northeast, the 6-3, 218 pound Wylie registered 5 sacks to add to his already successful junior campaign for a total of 12. One of his favorite memories was also a sack. “Last year when I sacked fumble MLK QB and then picked it up for 6”.

Keon said the recruiting process was “Long and stressful but a good experience, I took the time to look at all the schools and went through my options”. He said Deion Barnes was the biggest influence at Penn State when it came to being recruited to play there. He also credited former Imhotep and Penn State player Shaka Toney for helping him develop this past year. It was during his recruiting process that he wracked up quite an offer sheet. Penn State was his second offer. Pitt, Penn State, NC State, UMass, Central Michigan, Akron, Bowling Green, Tennessee, Boston College, Iowa St, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Maryland, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Oklahoma, ASU, Cincinnati, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Indiana, Marshal, Kentucky.
