Khadir Rowe leads trio of Vikings on Signing Day. Headed to IUP

After a successful 2022 season in which the Northeast Vikings won their 5th consecutive Public League Championship, the program is also sending quite a few of its senior class players to college. Back in December two players signed their National Letter of Intents with FBS programs as star LT Naquil Betrand signed with SEC program Texas A&M and LB Tyrese Whitaker signed with local AAC program Temple University. This morning 3 more Vikings inked thier letters of intent with college programs as RB James Bermudez (Over 1000 yards total offense) is officially a Lock Haven University Bald Eagle while LB Khadir Rowe 6-3 235lbs inked his letter of intent with PSAC powerhouse Indiana University of PA. Last season IUP went 10-2 on the season finishing as PSAC West and PSAC champions, secured the #1 D2 Super Region 1 seed for playoffs and finished 10th/11th in the D2Football.com and AFCA final rankings. Khadir Rowe picked IUP after falling in love with the school & program while on his visit which was an overnight visit which allowed him to experience how the students and athletes lived while also touring the university. The visit also allowed him to see how the classrooms are structured and geared for his particular major.

With regards to the recruiting process and experience it was a rollercoaster for Khadir as he had interest from D1 programs and held a Temple offer for a while until the staff led by Rod Carey was dismissed and the new staff felt he wasn’t a fit for their new staff/program. Other D2 programs who showed very high interest were Shippensburg and Lock Haven. While grateful for their offers and interest he stands by his decision and is proud to be a Crimson Hawk. Khadir stated, “I’m blessed to be going to the best team in the PSAC”. As for his major he has plans on studying kinesiology which is the study of movement with the ultimate goal of being a Physical Therapist and employed by a professional or collegiate team. Joining Khadir at IUP will be 2022 Northeast High School graduate DL Jamar Brison who measures at 6-1 280lbs looks to make an impact on the Crimson Hawks defensive line.  Lastly but not least former Vikings WR Tiar Young who played as a true freshman in 2021 at Millersville University will join James Bermudez at Lock Haven where he will have 3 years of eligibility remaining. As a true freshman at Millersville Tiar recorded 12 receptions for 222 yards & 4 TDs in 7 games.
