Four-star running back Isaiah West verbally announced his commitment to the Buckeyes earlier after suddenly de-committing from Kentucky on May 13th. Ranked 6th in the state and 13th nationally at the running back position, West isn’t shy to the spotlight. West turned down offers from Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburg, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and five others so that he could play at Ohio State. West visited OSU the weekend of May 11th and soon after decommitted from Kentucky. West recently finished his visit with the Buckeyes that lasted July 14th-16th, so this commitment isn’t too much of a shocker.
“I just feel comfortable at Ohio State,” West says. With a light running-back room West has a chance to make an immediate impact soon after his freshman year with TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins most likely going to the draft. “Coach Lock is my guy. He can develop me into the best player I can be.” says West.
West is now the second running back to commit to Ohio State following Bo Jackson and the second 2025 commit from Philadelphia after Imhotep’s Zahir Mathis. The last Ohio State commits from St. Joe’s Prep came from now-Arizona Cardinal Marvin Harrison Jr. and Syracuse’s Kyle McCord; it is safe to say West is joining an elite company.
