The Aliquippa Quips took a ride over to Dormont Memorial Stadium to take on the Seton LaSalle Rebels. The Quips entered this game 1-0, and the reigning 4A WPIAL champions, the Rebels, entered 2-0.

The coin toss resulted in the Rebels winning it and deferring until the second half. The defense was strong for the Rebels. It sent the Quips’ punting unit out in only 3 downs. The result was the same for the Rebels: another drive that went 3-and-out. The next two drives followed the same pattern.

The pattern was broken when the Rebels’ offense found themselves around the 50-yard line. Quarterback Kia Jones Jr. found Colt Erdos for a passing touchdown. Rebels jumped on the board first. The score was 6-0 after the PAT was hooked wide left.

The Quips started the second half on offense and inched closer to the goal line was ultimately stopped in the red zone, with the Rebels’ defense coming in clutch on a huge 4th-down stop. The first half ended with a turnover on downs from the Rebels.

The second half started off with the Rebels on offense. Jonathan Wega was left wide open and hauled it in for a touchdown. Before the PAT was kicked, the Quips’ defense jumped offsides and bumped the offense up 5 yards. The kicking unit was sent back in, and the main offense came back out. The Rebels went for the two-point conversion, and they completed it to make up for the missed PAT; the score is 14-0.

The Quips’ offense was moving downfield quickly with the idea of cutting the deficit down to one touchdown; that was until the Quips’ punter had trouble with the snap, and Jack Meade jumped in front of the punter and blocked the kick, allowing the Rebels to have the ball on the Aliquippa 30-yard line. The quarterback, Jones Jr., rounded off the drive with a rushing touchdown to make the score 21-0. The Quips never answered back, and the Rebels’ Braylin Lay rushed in for a touchdown to add some more insurance and make the score 28-0.

The final score was 28-0, with the Rebels heading home victorious after not allowing the Quips to get into the red zone more than once. Aliquippa (1-1) will head back home to take on Shady Side Academy (2-1). Seton LaSalle (3-0) will head to Steel Valley (2-1) next Friday, 9/18.
