Jefferson, PA – The Carmichaels Mighty Mikes (3-6, 2-4) have won back to back games for the first time this season. Prior to that the offense struggled to score points, but in the two most recent wins the offense is averaging 27 points per game and the defense has been solid. That defense pitched a shutout and stifled the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets (1-8, 1-5) offense en rout to a 33-0 victory.
In this Class A Tri-County South rivalry, junior running back K.C. Shook took control and led the Carmichaels offense with three touchdowns. Shook’s first touchdown put the Mighty Mikes on the board in the first quarter, and that was all that was needed, from 7 yards out as he stretched and reached as a Rockets defender had a hold of his leg for the end zone. The next came late in the second quarter from 28 yards, as he took a toss and made a cut and outran the Rockets to the endzone. His final touchdown was an impressive run from 56 yards out where he slipped a couple arm tackles, cut across the field and added a slick juke move inside the 5 to find pay dirt.

Jefferson-Morgan did manage to move the ball, at times. In the first half, they had goal-to-go on two separate drives and came away with no points. The Rockets were very much in the game at the half. The Mikes led 14-0.
However, Carmichaels continued to pound the ball with a strong run game. The Rockets were never able to find the consistency to put together a drive and gain any momentum. In addition to the failed goal-to-go series, penalties and turnovers were costly for the Rockets.

Aside from Shook’s three scores, senior running back Job Smith bullied his way in for an 18 yard touchdown and senior Ryder Kreig took an end around for five yards.
