Southern Lehigh Quarterback Colton Sams Commits to Bloomsburg University

Southern Lehigh quarterback Colton Sams has announced his commitment to Bloomsburg University. Sams, who is in Mr. PA Football’s Top 25, had received offers from four other schools, including Muhlenberg College, Lebanon Valley College, Ithaca College, and Towson University. Sams ultimately decided on Bloomsburg University, a Division 2 school in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Sams, listed at 6 foot 1 and 180 pounds, is fresh off of a 4A state title in 2025, leading Southern Lehigh to a 15-1 record and a 43-21 victory over Twin Valley in the state championship game. Since taking over as Southern Lehigh’s starter in 2024, he has led the Spartans to a 27-4 record over two seasons. In Sams’ sophomore season, he threw for 2,999 yards and 34 touchdowns to only 7 interceptions, leading the Spartans to the state semifinals. In his junior year, Sams threw for 2,689 yards and 36 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions, as well as winning Southern Lehigh’s first ever state title. Sams has also been a first team All-State quarterback in both of his years as a starter. Sams enters his senior year in 2026, this being his third year under head coach Phil Sams, who is Colton’s father.
Colton is an extremely dedicated and talented Football player. He leads his team by example and spends countless hours working on his craft that includes weight lifting, speed and agility, film, and getting together with his teammates to work on timing, route running and opposing defenses.
