Entering Friday’s game, Spring-Ford (10-1) was the 4th seed in District 1, known for their explosive and well-rounded offense, only dropping a game to the #1 seed Downingtown East. On the other hand, the 13th seed Quakertown (6-5) started the season 0-4, before winning six games straight, and winning the SOL continental championship.

To start the game, Daimon Lowande-Richardson broke free for a 49yd kick return, and in response to Quakertown’s early momentum, Spring-Ford’s Dylan Garay forced an early punt, with a sack on 3rd down.

Then, after marching the field, Spring-Ford ran an outside toss to Pheonix Martin, who punched in a 16-yard touchdown to open the scoring early in the first quarter.

In addition to Spring-Ford early scoring, their defense forced a three-and-out, where Spring-Ford, on the second play of the drive, saw Kaden Pickersgill connect with Jackson Wickersham for a 70yd go-route and a touchdown.

Yet, Quakertown kept composure, and after a long-drive down the field, let Gavin Handschumacher power his way into the endzone for a Quakertown touchdown.

Yet, Spring-Ford responded nearly instantly, with an interception, then a goal-line touchdown from fullback Trent Yoder.

Then quickly after, Rowan Harmon continued the damage to Quakertown before the half, with a goal-line touchdown to make it a 28-7 game before halftime.

Leaving halftime, Dominic Ferrugio received a perfectly placed ball, where he jumped with two defenders, and scored for Quakertown.

Then, after a Carter Tucholski rushing touchdown for Quakertown, and a Spring-Ford touchdown, Daimon Lowande-Richardson made it a one-score game, punching it in on a outside toss.

Quakertown then recovered a fumble within their own 10-yard-line, and with 3 minutes left, had a chance to score a game-winning drive. Yet, when Quakertown quarterback Carter Tucholski dropped back, Spring-Ford linebacker Jack Shamenski intercepted the out route, and ran it back for a pick-six, sealing the game 42-28 for the Spring-Ford Rams.

Spring-Ford (10-1) will move to the District 1 quarterfinal, and play Plymouth Whitemarsh (10-1), the 5th seed. Quakertown’s playoff run will end, and they will meet long-time rivals Pennridge (9-2) in their annual Thanksgiving game.
