Davon Melbourne Leads Rockets to Win
Northern York – The Rockets led by quarterback Davon Melbourne topped the Polar Bears 21-14 in the first regular season game of the 2026 football season.
Davon Melbourne of Spring Grove High School accounted for 83 total yards of offense with one touchdown. He was backed by running backs Brody Redding and Kade Gibbs in the backfield. Redding rushed for 111 yards in 22 carries along with a touchdown. Gibbs rushed for 94 yards in 12 carries, also scoring a touchdown.

Northern York tied the game early in the second quarter with a touchdown by wide receiver Cash Keck. Keck finished the day with both a touchdown and interception.

Brody Leathery of Northern York opened up the 2nd half scoring with a breakaway touchdown giving the Polar Bears a 7-14 lead.

The Rockets battled back with a rushing touchdown by Brody Redding, making the score 14-14.

Melbourne, the Rockets sophomore quarterback who led the team to a back and forth battle, ultimately found the endzone for the winning score late in the 4th. The Rockets would go on to win 21-14, advancing to 1-0 on the season.
