State College High School Crushes Chambersburg in Home Opener

Memorial Field— The old adage “Offense wins games, defense wins championships” may be best represented by the performance of the Little Lions. State College took it the Chambersburg Trojans 38-0.
After putting up 35 points in last weeks win at Central York, the team just 5 miles from State College did that in the opening half en route to their second victory of the season.
The scoring started with a 26-yard run from the senior, Rowan Walker. Walker found himself into the end zone three times last week, and already made an impact in week 2.

Chambersburg went three-and-out on their next possession, leading to the Little Lions taking over in their own territory. But after a failed attempt on fourth down, the Trojans got the ball right back- only to go three-and-out once again. The next drive for State College was all led by Walker: he ran for 25 yards, 5 here, 3 there, and capped it off with one-yard score to put the Little Lions up 14-0 to end the first quarter.
The second frame gave optimism to Chambersburg. Their passing game became stronger, picked ip a few first downs, but all good things must come to an end. They decided to roll the dice on a fourth-and-six, but failed to convert after the defense brought the blitz. After some nice catches, AJ Fry scores on a 27-yard touchdown that involved improvising from his quarterback, Connor Kulka.

The score was now 21-0 in favor of the home team, but the Little Lions did not lay off the gas. Chambersburg had some mishandles, penalties, and poor snaps which resulted in another punt back to State College. Another long drive resulted in six, with Kulka diving his way into the end zone making it 28-0. Chambersburg was unable to run out the clock, and you guessed it, they punted it back to the Little Lions. State College, with no timeouts and limited time, had big plays of 14 and 44-yards. They ended the half with an exclamation, with Fry scoring again to put the Little Lions up 35-0 at the end of the first half.
Quarter 3 began with the team up 35 points with the ball. A near 7 minute drive resulted in not a touchdown, a field goal rather, as Shane Markowski hit from 47 yards deep. Chambersburg completed their longest play, as Lucas Ocker, sophomore, caught a 26-yard pass from his junior quarterback Cam Green. One play later, Ka’Ven Smith-Kirk had a sack. The third quarter ended with State College up 38-0.
The final quarter came and went by rather quickly. Chambersburg turned the ball over on downs and head coach for the Little Lions, Matt Lintal, brought in his backups.
Following a punt, Chambersburg fumbled the ball and Caleb Shaffer scooped it up from under the dog pile. The game ended with State College running out the clock.
The Little Lions win it 38-0 and improve to 2-0.
State College will go back on the road with a meeting against Bishop McDevitt while Chambersburg returns home with Cedar Cliff next week.
