Tennessee Tech held off Citadel 28-13, but it was the Bulldogs who struck first when Evan Kiely drilled a 53-yard field goal late in the first quarter. TTU answered in the second, with QB Jax Leatherwood hitting Tre Holloway for a 13-yard touchdown to take a 7-3 lead. Then came the play of the game. TTU RB Qua Ashley coughed it up, and Citadel DB JJ Fludd scooped it and took it 78 yards the other way to put the Bulldogs up 10-7.
Tennessee Tech took the lead right back. Leatherwood found Holloway again, this time for 48 yards and a score, and the Golden Eagles took a 14-10 lead into the half. Out of the break, MJ Flowers punched in a 9-yard touchdown run to make it 21-10.
Citadel kept it within reach in the fourth with a 33-yard field goal, cutting it to 21-13. But Flowers shut the door, taking it 27 yards up the middle for his second score of the day with 2:12 left to seal it.
