Turnovers doom Central, BG rides Wheeler and Hewitt to win

Bishop Guilfoyle and central met at mansion park in a heavyweight battle between 2 ranked teams. Slugfest only lasted one quarter. The marauders intercepted Dragon quarterback Jesse Muthler four times and pulled away for a 42 – 7 win. BG Quarterback Justin Wheeler piled on 241 Yards of offense, threw two touchdown passes and ran for one, Intercepted Muthler twice, and caught a two point conversion pass to lead the Marauders to the win.

Things didn’t start off easy for the marauders either After Wheeler got his first interception Bishop Guildford drove from the 25 to the central 4 yard line but a fumble at the one gave central the ball back. Central didn’t score but won the field position game at this point with a 62 yard punt.

Starting at their own 28 Bishop guilfoyle March to the end zone and with eight minutes 44 seconds left in the second quarter Keegan Hewitt cross the line from six yards out, Carter Boling kicked the point after and make it 7-0

On central’s next drive Nick Taddei get the second BG interception and it too failed to produce any points for the marauders.

Put on central’s next position Wheeler got his second interception of the night and BG turned it into points with a 44 yard field goal by Boland giving the marauders a 10 -0 lead at halftime.

BG took the second-half kickoff it could only get to the 15 yard line. Another Boland field goal made it 13-0. Central followed up with their best drive of the night. Starting at their own 20 they drove to the 50 and then Muthler found Semaj Musei the flats. The speedster did the rest, avoiding tackles and sprinting down the sidelines to the end zone for a 45 yard catch and run TD. 13-7 was as close as the Dragons would get.

BG erupted both offensively and defensively after the Dragons score. Landon Schellenberger threw a 24 yard pass to Monroe gates, Wheeler ran for 24 yards then capped the drive with a 2 yard touchdown run. He also hauled in the two point conversion making it 21 to 7. The very next play Declan Peterson jumped up in front of a Muthler  pass for the 4th interception of the night for BG. Wheeler ran it in from 13 yards out and the marauders pulled away.

 

On their next drive Wheeler found Evan schimminger wide open for 53 yard touchdown Hewitt would tack on another touchdown to close out the scoring.

After the game head coach Justin Wheeler had high praise for his son and his defense. “He’s just a real athlete, and tonight he stepped it up big time period he played very well considered our defense. Our defense played lights out all night long giving us good field position and of course the turnovers helped”.

BG travels to Tyrone next Friday. Central will visit Huntingdon.
