The West Philly Speedboys wasted little time asserting their dominance over an overmatched Palumbo squad as they ran through and around the Griffins en route to victory. The opening play from scrimmage saw star Sr. RB Jahsir Newsome take a handoff and race 75 yards to the endzone for a touchdown to give the Speedboys an early 7-0lead. West added a second touchdown to open the second quarter when Sr QB Ahmeir Green connected with Sr Athlete Khalil Smith for a 38 yard score to extend the lead to 13-0. Before the half ended Jashsir added his second score on a shifty 18 yard run to extend the lead to 20-0.

The second half featured bone crushing hits on defense and special teams from the Speedboys led by Sr. Brandele Martin and So. LB Chase Walton which got the crowd energized. Jahsir finished the scoring off with a 30 yard touchdown run for the final margin of victory 26-0.

Defensively D’Juan Cross finished the day with 2.5 sacks and was highly active in the run game. For Palumbo Sr QB Jamel Middleton was effective in their rushing attack for much of the game leading a drive that almost resulted in a score with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter.

West will now head uptown to face Imhotep in a rematch from an earlier season divisional game. This time on the line is the 5A classification title and the winner will advance into the PIAA playoffs.
