Wildcats Defense Stuns Lackawanna Trail 27-14 (Video Highlights)

After a 2-8 season the year prior, the Western Wayne Wildcats come out Week 1 and defeat Lackawanna Trail 27-14 on opening night. Dave Shimkosky also gets his first win as the Wildcats head coach. Jason Sparks had two touchdowns, one being a pick six along with many great plays on defense. Hunter Rodger and Gavin Ortiz scored the other two touchdowns for Western Wayne. The Wildcat defense was crucial in stopping Lackawanna Trail’s Wing T offense, forcing them to switch to the pass game. Lions quarterback Lucas Filipek ran in a touchdown and threw for one as he found Ayden Fowler late in the game. Western Wayne held Lackawanna Trail scoreless until the middle of the third quarter. Western Wayne improves to 1-0 and will travel to Old Forge next Friday. Lackawanna Trail falls to 0-1 and will look to bounce back against Dunmore at home next Friday
