(Wyomissing, PA) Coming into Saturday’s District 3 AAA quarterfinal Wyomissing and Littlestown entered from two different perspectives. The Thunderbolts came in off a dominating win over Halifax.  The Spartans fell to their arch rival Berks Catholic. So who would gather the muster to come out on top?  Wyomissing would score on the opening drive of the game and never look back to defeat Littlestown in hard hitting bruiser of a game 27-9.

Tim Kowalski led the Spartan offensive attack with punishing runs all game.  The Wyomissing defense picked off Littlestown five times to limit several scoring chances.

Kowalski said after the game “we knew we had to come out, we knew we had to be physical.  We are a real tight knit group, we are a brotherhood.”  Head Coach Bob Wolfrum talked about his very special group of Seniors “we were happy that they got this extra game here, the last two years we did not get to play here, because of the Thursday night District final.  Its been three years since we had a home playoff game and it was nice.”

Wyomissing got things going early.  The Spartans took the opening kick and drove down the field in time consuming fashion. Max Hurleman finished the drive off for Wyo.

The balance of the first quarter was a defensive back and forth.  Wyomissing got traction on a drive in quarter two that paid dividends when QB Ben Terefenko pushed it across.

An interception by Wyomissing set them up with good field position.  Now watch this TD run by Tim Kowalski that put the Spartans up 21-0

Max Hurleman made a key interception on the last play of the first half to keep the score 21-0 going into the break.

A blocked punt, followed by a TD from the free kick made things interesting in the third quarter at 21-9 Wyo.

Wyomissing controlled the ball the rest of the way.  Two nice field goals by Aiden Cirulli got the score to 27-9

It was a defensive struggle down the stretch and the final was 27-9 Wyomissing over Littlestown.

Wyomissing moves on to face Middletown on Friday Night.  A fine season by Littlestown ends at (7-4)
