2026 District 4 Power Rankings: Week 1 Edition

The first week of 2026 District 4 football has come and gone, so it’s time to do our weekly rankings. We had some big statement wins around the district, as well as a couple upsets, so let’s see where these teams stand after opening weekend.
Top 10 Teams
#1: Southern Columbia (1-0)
Last Week: #1
No surprises here, the defending state champion Tigers stay at number one. In fact, Southern Columbia beat 4A rival Wyomissing last week for the first time since they began playing them, beating them 34-27. This team looks ready to chase state title number 16. The Tigers have another big test this week, going on the road to face Williams Valley.
#2: Shamokin (1-0)
Last Week: #2
Another unsurprising one, Shamokin took down Pottsville on the road 41-7 last week, so no reason to move them out of this position. As expected, this Indians team once again looks poised to chase the District 4 title, and possibly a chance for the state title. The Indians stay on the road this week, as they will face Danville.
#3: Jersey Shore (1-0)
Last Week: #3
The third and final team on this list that doesn’t move positions, as the Bulldogs took down North Schuylkill 49-34 at home last week. Jersey Shore’s offense looked incredible in the second half of that game, scoring 35 points in the final two quarters. This week the Bulldogs will be on the road facing #5 ranked Montoursville.
#4: Athens (1-0)
Last Week: #5 (+1)
How about that for a statement win to open up the year, with Athens crushing Wyalusing 44-0 and holding the rams to negative 4 total yards. The offense looked great for the Wildcats, and the defense looked just as good. This week they’ve got a big test, traveling on the road to face Troy, who they lost to at home last year.
#5: Montoursville (1-0)
Last Week: #6 (+1)
The Warriors took down Troy in a full team effort last week, earning a 26-19 road victory over the Trojans. Montoursville’s rushing attack looked less dominant than it did last season, however it still looked amazing, and the defense stepped up in the big moments of the game. Montoursville is back home for the first time this year, and they have a big test as they welcome in #3 ranked Jersey Shore.
#6: Montgomery (1-0)
Last Week: #7 (+1)
Montgomery jumps up a spot after an impressive 24-0 shutout victory over Hughesville last week. The Red Raiders rushing attack looked just as good as it did in 2025, running for 321 total yards in the game. The defense pitched a shutout against Spartans as well. Montgomery is on the road this week facing Canton.
#7: Bloomsburg (1-0)
Last Week: #9 (+2)
In their matchup against Milton last week, Bloomsburg ran away with the game in the second half. After the Black Panthers tied the game just 56 seconds into the second half, Bloomsburg outscored Milton 22-6 the rest of the way. The Panthers performed well on both sides of the ball in the 29-13 victory. Bloomsburg stays on the road this week, as they will face Loyalsock.
#8: Mount Carmel (1-0)
Last Week: #10 (+2)
The Red Tornadoes pulled off a big time upset last week, taking down Schuylkill Haven at home in a 48-41 shootout. The Hurricanes coming into the game were ranked #6 in the state in the 2A class. Mount Carmel was able to outduel Schuylkill Haven without completing a single pass. Mount Carmel goes on the road this week to face Pottsville.
#9: Mifflinburg (0-1)
Last Week: #4 (-5)
Despite the loss, Mifflinburg still looked very good in their home game against Shikellamy last week. The game came down to the final play that was an end zone interception by the Braves, sealing their 26-21 victory. The team had to replace two All-State talents this offseason, and it will take more than one week for those new talents to mesh together. Mifflinburg stays at home this week, welcoming in Selinsgrove.
#10: Line Mountain (1-0)
Last Week: Honorable Mention #1
The Eagles are another team that had to replace a bunch of talent this offseason. Even though the offense didn’t look as good as it did last year, Line Mountain still came away with a gritty 14-7 win against Tri-Valley on the road. The Eagles trailed 7-0 in that game all the way until the fourth quarter where they scored twice to win. Line Mountain will be on the road again this week facing Glendale.
Honorable Mentions
HM #1: Warrior Run (1-0)
Last Week: Honorable Mention #2
In a game that was scoreless at halftime and plagued with turnovers, Warrior Run emerged victorious. Although it wasn’t pretty, the Defenders did just enough to take down Muncy on the road 14-7 last week. The passing game struggled after having to replace their starting quarterback, but the rushing attack was still very effective. Warrior Run is at home this week as they welcome in Central Mountain.
HM #2: Loyalsock (1-0)
Last Week: Honorable Mention #3
Loyalsock lost a lot of high end talent this offseason, but their new pieces showed a lot of promise in their 47-14 victory over Central Columbia last week. The Lancers didn’t have a perfect game against the Blue Jays by any means, however the offense specifically performed very well. This week will be much bigger challenge as they have a home date with #7 ranked Bloomsburg.
HM #3: Shikellamy (1-0)
Last Week: Not Ranked
The Braves certainly caught a lot of people’s attention last week, upsetting the defending district champion Mifflinburg Wildcats on the road. Mifflinburg at the time was ranked #4 in the district rankings, and were an honorable mention in the 3A state rankings. Shikellamy will be at home this week facing Lewisburg.
