2026 District 4 Power Rankings: Week 2 Edition

Week 2 has come and gone, along with the first week of September, so it’s time for our weekly rankings. After two weeks of football, we still have no movement among the top three teams, but there is plenty of movement behind them, so let’s take a look at where everybody stands.
Top 10 Teams
#1: Southern Columbia (2-0)
Last Week: #1
The Tigers started slow last week on the road against Williams Valley, scoring only 8 points in the first half, but they found their stride in the second half winning 30-12. Even with the sluggish start, they still took down the #8 ranked team in the state in the 1A class. The Tigers will be back at home this week as they welcome in their first District 4 opponent of the season, #6 ranked Montoursville.
#2: Shamokin (2-0)
Last Week: #2
Shamokin looked incredible offensively last week against Danville, scoring 31 points in the first quarter and finishing the game with 53. The Indians 53-14 drubbing of the Ironmen moves them to 2-0 and further strengthens their case as the best 4A team in the district. This week the Indians will be at home for the first time, and they will be welcoming in Shikellamy.
#3: Jersey Shore (2-0)
Last Week: #3
Jersey Shore’s offense struggled a little bit against Montoursville, but their defense held strong and the Bulldogs still emerged victorious. Jersey Shore faced Montoursville on the road last week, who was the #5 ranked team in the district, and came away with the 27-13 victory. The Bulldogs are back at home this week, facing Selinsgrove.
#4: Montgomery
Last Week: #6 (+2)
The Red Raiders absolutely crushed Canton last week, winning 48-14 on the road and just dominating completely on both sides of the ball. We’re only two weeks into the year, but Montgomery is looking like one of the better teams in the 1A class. This week the Red Raiders are at home, and they will welcome in South Williamsport.
#5: Bloomsburg (2-0)
Last Week: #7 (+2)
Bloomsburg went on the road against Loyalsock last week, and they ultimately prevailed 28-21 in what might have been District 4’s game of the week. So far this team has hardly missed a beat after having to replace All-State quarterback Wyatt Brosious. This week they’ll have another big challenge, as they’ll be at home against #8 ranked Mifflinburg.
#6: Montoursville (1-1)
Last Week: #5 (-1)
It’s difficult to drop Montoursville after their 27-13 loss to Jersey Shore last week, but by principle they do have to fall a little bit in the rankings. In all fairness, Montoursville gave Jersey Shore all they could handle, staying within one score until late in the game. This week, the Warriors are on the road facing #1 ranked Southern Columbia.
#7: Mount Carmel (2-0)
Last Week: #8 (+1)
Mount Carmel’s offense has looked incredible for the first two weeks of the season, last week they beat Pottsville on the road 47-20. The Red Tornadoes are rolling so far, the defense still has some question marks, but offensively this team looks like it could compete with almost anyone. Mount Carmel returns home this week, and they will face Milton.
#8: Mifflinburg (1-1)
Last Week: #9 (+1)
Week 1 was a heartbreaking loss for the Wildcats, but they got back on track last week beating Selinsgrove at home 28-10. They looked sharp on both sides of the ball and better down the stretch of the game. Mifflinburg started out the year playing two schools that are a class above them, so they should be in good shape going forward. The Wildcats hit the road this week, as they will face #5 ranked Bloomsburg.
#9: Line Mountain (2-0)
Last Week: #10 (+1)
The Eagles looked amazing last week against Glendale, winning 42-8 on the road. After an ugly performance offensively in their 14-7 win against Tri-Valley in week 1, Line Mountain’s offense took a big step forward, specifically the rushing attack which struggled in week 1. This week Line Mountain is at home where they will face Northern Bedford.
#10: Athens (1-1)
Last Week: #4 (-6)
Overall Athens didn’t perform that badly against Troy last week, but they made way too many mistakes which led to their 31-21 road loss. 4 interceptions from Connor Davidson along with plenty of drives that came up empty was ultimately their undoing against the Trojans. Athens will try to get back on track at home this week against Cowanesque Valley.
Honorable Mentions
HM #1: Warrior Run (2-0)
Last Week: Honorable Mention #1
Warrior Run allowed Central Mountain to stay within striking distance until late in the fourth quarter last week, eventually pulling away to win 42-19 on the road. This offense which was one of the most balanced attacks in the entire 2A class, is starting to reach those levels once again. The Defenders will be at home this week welcoming in Midd-West.
HM #2: Shikellamy (2-0)
Last Week: Honorable Mention #3
The Braves got the shutout victory against Lewisburg, winning 21-0 at home last week, however the game looked much closer than it should have. Shikellamy looked sloppy on offense which kept the Green Dragons in the game for a lot longer than they should have been. Shikellamy has their biggest test so far this week, as they will head on the road to face #2 ranked Shamokin.
HM #3: Troy (1-1)
Last Week: Not Ranked
The Trojans found a rhythm on offense last week at home against Athens, winning 31-21. After putting up 28 points in the first half, the offense did start to struggle, and they made some mistakes that allowed Athens to crawl back into the game. Troy will look to keep their momentum this week at home against Towanda.
