Dallas used their 2-headed running attack, strong QB play and some great defense to surge to an early lead in their 42-23 defeat of Abington Heights. RB Hunter Pitcavage had 3 rushing TD’s, RB Mark Saracinaj had 2 rushing TD’s and QB Talan Geskey had a rushing TD.  Abington Heights got 2 passing TD’s from QB Gavin Shay and a rushing TD from RB Jayden Anglin.

Abington Heights won the toss and deferred, so Dallas received the opening kickoff.  They used their strong running game right away and got on the board early when RB Hunter Pitcavage hit on a 5-yard run.  Dallas had a 7-0 lead with 8:30 left in the 1st quarter.

The Dallas defense also had strong early play and forced Abington Heights to punt it away.  Dallas then drove the field again and RB Mark Saracinaj scored on a 3-yard run to make it 14-0 Dallas with 1:46 left in the 1st quarter.

Abington Heights then had a nice drive going as the 2nd quarter began, and they drove into Dallas territory.  The drive was successful as QB Gavin Shay hit WR Race Morasky for an 11-yard score that drew Abington Heights closer at 14-7 with 10:24 left in the 2nd quarter.

Later in the 2nd quarter, Dallas scored again when Pitcavage scored on a 3-yard run to make it 21-7 Dallas with 2:57 left in the 1st half.

Abington Heights had a nice return from Jayden Anglin on the ensuing kickoff, then drove deep into Dallas territory.  With time running out, the Comets scored when K Jack Hartshorn kicked a 32-yard field goal to make it 21-10 Dallas at the half.

Abington Heights took the 2nd half kickoff, but the Dallas defense stood tall and forced a punt.  The Mounts then executed a nice balanced drive that was capped when QB Talan Geskey scored on a 1-yard keeper to make it 28-10 Dallas with 6:25 left in the 3rd quarter.

Another Comet drive, and another stout performance by the Dallas defense meant another punt.  Dallas then drove the field again and Saracinaj scored his 2nd TD, a 4-yard run, and the Mounts took a 35-10 lead with 46 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

As the 4th quarter got underway, Abington quickly drove the field and then Shay hit WR Jacob Barrish in the left corner of the end zone for a 12-yard TD.  With 10:38 left in the game, Dallas held a 35-17 lead.

Dallas then started to drain the clock and used their running attack to gain yardage into Comet territory.  It was then that Pitcavage broke free on a 40-yard run and Dallas increased their lead 42-17 with 7:08 left in the game.

Abington did get one more score, a 1-yard run from Jayden Anglin to make it 42-23 Dallas, which was the final score.  Dallas improved to 3-0 and will go on the road next week to play a resurgent Pittston Area squad.  Abington Heights fell to 1-2 and will look to get back on track at home against West Scranton.

After the game, I spoke with Dallas RB Hunter Pitcavage and QB Talan Geskey:
