We’re in the home stretch of the 2026 regular season, as eight weeks of football have come and gone. This week was a relatively boring week in terms of rankings, hardly any movement at all, there was only one adjustment made in the middle, and only one team dropped out this week and it was Jersey Shore. With that said, here’s the District 4 rankings after week 8.
Another dominant win for the Indians as they crushed Hanover Area 65-14 last week. Eight straight wins now for Shamokin, and they are currently on a 28 game regular season win streak dating back to 2024. The Indians have an intriguing matchup this week, as they have to go on the road to face Blue Mountain.
Just like Shamokin, Mount Carmel continues to roll, crushing winless Central Columbia 63-0 at home for their eighth straight win. There’s a good chance the Red Tornadoes win this week which could be giving us an undefeated showdown in week 1o for the Coal Bucket Game. This week they stay at home for the last time this regular season, facing Central Mountain.
A third straight top team dominates, Southern Columbia isn’t undefeated but they dominated Milton last week 42-14 at home, improving to 7-1. There’s a reason this team remains at the top of the 2A state rankings, and they likely won’t be going anywhere anytime soon as we enter the final stretch of the regular season. The Tigers go on the road this week to face Jersey Shore.
Shikellamy jumps up one spot to number four after their 42-10 blowout win over Loyalsock last week on the road, their fifth straight win. This Braves’ offense looks to be heating up at the right time, and there’s a very real chance that Shikellamy wins out and gets home field advantage in the first round of the district playoffs. The Braves will have a home date against Warrior Run this week.
Bloomsburg drops one spot after an extremely close 36-32 win on the road against Lewisburg last week. The Panthers struggled more than I thought they would against the Green Dragons, so they drop one spot just based on their flawed performance against unranked Lewisburg. Bloomsburg is likely to win out and finish undefeated, but we will have to wait to see if they get the top seed over Southern Columbia. This week the Panthers will be back at home against Danville.
The Red Raiders got themselves another solid win last week, taking down Towanda 35-14 at home for their fourth straight win. This team looks ready to run it back to the district title game, which will likely come against Line Mountain for the second year in a row, however Montgomery will likely lose the one seed to Line Mountain by the end of the regular season. This week Montgomery goes on the road to face North Penn-Mansfield.
Line Mountain got back on track last week, beating Halifax at home 35-14 and starting a new win streak after losing their seven game win streak last week to Steelton-Highspire. The Eagles despite currently sitting behind Montgomery in the standings, control their own destiny to the one seed in the district playoffs, and there is a good chance that they do that. This week Line Mountain goes on the road to face Juniata.
The Wildcats cruised once again, crushing Canton on the road 42-0 and earning their sixth straight victory. The Wildcats currently sit at the number two seed in the District 4 3A bracket, and that is likely where they will finish if everything goes chalk the rest of the way. This week Athens is back at home facing Muncy.
The Trojans had an early scare against Sayre last week, but they still cruised past the Redskins 55-12 for their seventh straight win. Troy’s offense has been clicking very nicely the last couple weeks, and they have a good chance to finish the regular season 9-1 for the second straight season. This week Troy stays on the road facing Wyalusing.
Mifflinburg has found a very nice rhythm over the last few weeks, as they crushed Midd-West 47-0 on the road for their fifth straight win. The Wildcats won the district title in 2025, and right now they sit at the number three seed in this year’s bracket, so we’ll see if they can keep this up and potentially win the crown for a second straight year. Mifflinburg comes back home this week, as they face Montoursville.
The Millionaires got a nice bounce back win on the road last week, shutting out Berwick 28-0 following their blowout loss to Shamokin in week 7. Williamsport welcomed back star quarterback Tevin Williams to the lineup, and he looks like he hasn’t missed a beat, so this team could really make some noise come November. Williamsport has a big time challenge this week, as they will go on the road to face Hollidaysburg.
The Mountaineers continue to roll offensively, crushing Cowanesque Valley on the road 58-0 last week for their fourth straight win and their fifth 50+ point performance of the season. South Williamsport has looked impressive this season, specifically on the offensive side, so now the question is can they keep this up when the playoffs come around? This week South Williamsport is back at home against Wellsboro.
The Warriors got it done against Central Mountain last week, pulling away in the second half for a 28-7 road victory. Montoursville seemed to struggle more than I thought they would against Central Mountain, and they have a big test coming up this week to see if this team can be a true contender come playoff time. This week Montoursville goes on the road to face #10 ranked Mifflinburg.
