Around District 11 With Pam and Guy: Parity a Pipe Dream in D11
October 3, 2024
2024 Episode 21. We can’t speak for the rest of the state, but in District 11, it seems the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, so to speak. Week in and week out, there seem to be far more blowouts than close, exciting games. Take last weekend for instance. There were 24 games […]

On Friday, we visited the last of the six schools from outside of District 11 that were grouped with the district teams in subregions at some point from 2021-2023. The last to visit was the 6A Williamsport […]

Around District 11 With Pam and Guy: Thursday Night Football Begins
September 3, 2024
2024 Episode 17. After three fall seasons of football being the top priority at almost every opportunity, this year we are “rebalancing our portfolio” and diversifying a bit more this season. For the Labor Day weekend, we scheduled a split with three football games and four races. We lost one of each due to non-weather-related […]
Around District 11 With Pam and Guy: Strong Start by D11 Schools
August 28, 2024
2024 Episode 16. High school football is back! Way better than Christmas! The teams from D11 had a good week, with the majority of schools playing teams from outside the district. And D11 had a good showing. Of the 27 (of 47) schools that played outside teams, the D11 schools won twice as many as […]
On the GEFA Trail—The GEFA SEASON STADIUM REVIEW
August 3, 2024
2024 Episode 15. This Spring, Pam and I decided we were going to follow GEFA, the Great Eastern Football Association playing 8-main semi-pro ball, for the entire season. We didn’t commit to going to a game every week, but when we did go, we went to see different teams play each week. We never went […]
On the GEFA Trail—A Pair of All-Star Games, GEFA and The Dream Game!
July 22, 2024
2024 Episode 14. We were planning on going to our 20th and final Spring/Summer football game this weekend, but by some luck we ended up with a 21st. This was easily the most football games we have ever attended during the spring and summer months. And although 21 is only a small percentage of the […]
On the GEFA Trail—Keystone Bowl XX
July 16, 2024
2024 Episode 13. After an almost month-long break for us (we skipped the two weekends of playoffs), we were back on the GEFA trail for the Keystone Bowl. It’s not like we sat home for a month, as from the final regular season game on June 15 to the championship game on July 13, we […]
On the GEFA Trail—Indiana County Crusaders
June 18, 2024
2024 Episode 12. It was the final week of the regular season, and we had been to see eight of the 11 GEFA teams play at home, plus the neutral field “Kickoff Classic” triple header. The Monroeville Titans folded early, and the Somerset County Miners home season had ended. Also, the Bedford County Buffaloes had […]
On the GEFA Trail—Moshannon Valley Vikings

On the GEFA Trail—Williamsport Wildcats. Bonus Coverage—Big 33 High School All Star Game
May 29, 2024
2024 Episode 10. That’s ten straight weeks of spring football for us. But it looks like that streak ends there, as we have no football scheduled for the current week. Last week we doubled up with football on both Saturday and Sunday. The sports week started with Modified racing at the Kutztown Fairgrounds Action Track […]
On the PSFCA Trail—East/West All Star Games
May 21, 2024
2024 Episode 9. It was indeed another busy sports week for us, but we did manage to include spring football for the ninth week in a row. We started with a Wednesday race rainout at the Kutztown Fairgrounds Action Track USA. But a Thursday NCAA National Tournament double got things back on the right track, […]

In the afternoon we headed to Saint Clair to see the GEFA Coal County Nightmare, and in the evening to Palmyra for the WFA Harrisburg Havoc. The pair of Saturday games were sandwiched between […]

After six straight Saturdays of spring football, our streak was supposed to end this weekend. We had racing at the Chemung Speedrome, NY scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and the Kutztown Fairgrounds Action Track USA on Sunday evening. Throw in racing on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, and it was scheduled to be a 4-0 racing […]
On the GEFA Trail: Hazleton Mustangs
April 29, 2024
For our sixth straight Saturday of spring football, we had five choices as per the GEFA schedule. That was cut to four as the Williamsport Wildcats home game became a forfeit win for the Wildcats as the Monroeville Titans have apparently folded. We give credit to the Titans. Despite having very low turnout of rostered […]
On the GEFA Trail: Berks County Raptors
April 21, 2024
Five straight Saturdays of spring football. Life is good. After a week break for Harrisburg Stampede AIF indoor football at the Farm Show, we were back on the GEFA trail. So far this season we had seen GEFA games at Central Columbia High School in Bloomsburg (Kickoff Classic), Claysburg-Kimmel High School in Claysburg (Bedford County […]
On the Arena Indoor Trail: Harrisburg Stampede
April 16, 2024
(2024.04). Our fourth straight Saturday of spring football, but this time it wasn’t the GEFA, as we headed indoors for our first Harrisburg Stampede game. It was a busy Saturday for us. We started with a gym workout. Then we headed to DeSales University for men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, a tri-meet against […]
On the GEFA Trail: Dauphin County Comanche
April 9, 2024
Our GEFA choice this week was whittled down to either the Dauphin County Comanche, where we could see afternoon football and evening racing, or head west and knock off another of the farther away teams, the Indiana County Crusaders. In the end, the double won and we headed to the Comanche. GEFA has made many […]
On the GEFA Trail: Bedford County Buffaloes
March 31, 2024
This season, we decided to go to GEFA 8-man semi-pro football games as many Saturdays as our schedule allows. Two for two. Last week we were at Central Columbia High School for the “Kickoff Classic.” For what GEFA calls “Week 1” of the season we had four game choices. Guy writes a weekly auto racing […]

So far in 2024 we had been to see auto racing, basketball, track & field, wrestling, ice hockey, softball, rugby, lacrosse, and baseball all at the college level or higher. But until Saturday, March 23, nary a single football game. Now we’ve seen three. For over 50 consecutive years, Guy has been to more auto […]

We always enjoy feedback from readers at RTRYFBAR@aol.com. Back for our 26th, and final blog of the season, as we have averaged one “PA Football News” blog per every other week for 2023. Around District 11 with Pam and Guy: 2023 All-Snack Bar Team
December 19, 2023
We always enjoy feedback from readers at RTRYFBAR@aol.com. Back by popular demand is our District 11 First Team All Snack Bar for 2023. This column was so very well received in 2021. Since we visited fewer D11 stadiums in 2022, we did a much-truncated version last year, and we were good-naturedly skewered by those looking […]
Around District 11 with Pam and Guy: Stairway to Seven
December 12, 2023
We always enjoy feedback from readers at RTRYFBAR@aol.com. This past weekend we headed to Cumberland Valley for the six PIAA state championship football games. There was some discussion about whether or not we were going to all six games as usual, or cut back a bit. We are now both in our 60s, and back-to-back-to-back […]
