Last night I made my 2nd trip to Briggs this season. Like the first time around I was treated to a very competitive game against two schools, that looked evenly matched in all areas of the game. The odd stat in this one to me would be the 35 passes thrown with just 8 completions. Each team by my count had just four completed passes. Tried to patch the rosters together using Hudl.com but as has been the case many times this season, neither school had complete rosters with numbers included.

Briggs would go to the air while facing A third and eleven with the result being A 15-yard completion to Mykeal Daniels off of the arm of Tajh Bowers. Bowers, who struggled in this one (4-21) does throw A nice ball when given the chance to set his feet and throw. Through the two games I have seen, he seldom has had time to throw. With 8:27 left in the half the Briggs drive came to an abrupt end due to A bad snap that Bowers never seemed to get a hold of the recovery for Africentric came from #5 (NOT ON THE ROSTER). By the time this game was over Briggs would suffer five bad snaps with all five causing bad things to happen to the offense. When the Briggs offense got back on field David Downs III showed off some nice skills, with A sweet-looking 16-yard run.
This Briggs drive ended when downs was stopped on A fourth and one by Tarrent Morrison. The quarter would end with this contest scoreless.

Bowers would be picked off by #30 (NOT ON THE ROSTER) he would run the ball all the way down to the Briggs 12-yard line.
Justin Fudge Jr. would put Africentric up 6-0 on A 2-yard touchdown run. The defense would be the key in this one for both teams until Downs blasted off to A 22-yard gain. Downs was a bright spot again in this one but seemed to be lost at times as a lot of plays were called where he was not used, especially in the struggling passing game. Another bad snap was recovered by Africentric, this time it was #51 (NOT ON THE ROSTER), with 2″21 left in the half. Fudge Jr. would make this A 12-0 game when he scored from 5-yards out, with 2:13 left. Briggs would be forced to punt the ball away and on the punt, A Africentric player touched the ball and the Bruins were able to recover the loose ball. On the ensuing drive, the Bruins lost 4-yards and the half ended with Africentric leading 12-0.

With 6:14 left in the third quarter, a tip Bruins pass fell right into the hands of Mykeal Daniels, who outran the Nubians defense for A 90-yard Bruins score to make this A 12-6 game. Fudge Jr. took the ensuing kickoff all the way down to the Bruins 12-yard line only to see A personal foul called on his team taking the ball all the way back to the 45-yard line. That drive fizzled out a short time later. #1 (not on the roster) for the Nubians saved A touchdown when he deflected A Bowers pass, with 3:17 left. When going back on offense #1 (Not on the roster) for the Nubians hauled in A pass and picked up 42 yards. The quarter came to A close with A 1-yard touchdown run by #8 (NOT ON THE ROSTER) putting the Nubians up 18-6.

The fourth quarter like most of this game was penalty ridden and gave us just one score and that came on A 32-yard pass from Bowers to Daniels to make this an 18-12 game, which was also the final score. Bowers and Daniels is A dangerous combo that has the ability to put up huge numbers once the offensive line jells fr the Bruins. For the Nubians, Leon Briggs looked like A beast in short-yardage situations. The big guy was carted off the field late in this one. Let’s all pray that he recovers quickly and gets back on the field.
